Romney’s top contributor: Goldman Sachs..... Ron Paul’s: US Army

Drudged.

Be sure to say something nice to Matt when you Drudge things. Thank him, etc...

No donations from individual Marines? Or are they included in the "U.S. Navy" amount?

I'm curious about that as well. My theory is that the Marine Corps is a much smaller branch than the others so you can expect less money. What would be nice to know is the relative ratio of Marines donating, since it would be more accurate than just looking at the total money raised.

The link is not working for me at the moment.

But yes, this definitely needs to be shared all over the place.

ya, Who Owns your Candidate

So, I promise that I'm not a troll when I say this...in fact, I do have very close ties to the US Military myself...but there's nothing stopping anyone who contributes to the campaign from saying they work for the USA, USAF, USN, USMC, etc even if they don't. Hell, you could say your employer is Barack Obama and your contribution would go through just fine. While I'm super stoked that the US Military may be the top money contributors for Ron Paul, I have to admit I'm a little skeptical when I see the top 3 contributors are the USAF, USA, and USMC. Once again, not trying to sound trollish, but just something to think about...makes me wonder if that's why the campaign hasn't made a bigger deal about the contributions b/c they certainly should with a GOP field that's beating the war drum toward Iran/Syria/etc.

The link to the article still isn't working for me. :( Is it down for you too?

I posted a quick article on my blog with this headline and shared that on twitter and fb, but it would be better if I shared a link to a 'news source.'

the original link to the site was down yesterday due to heavy traffic but is back up now

it was on the front page of reddit and was tweeted by joe rogan at the beginning of fear factor last night so that probably did it.

Romney is the candidate that will likely be buddy-buddy with Wall Street. Mitt Romney's top ten is made up of Goldman Sachs, followed by Credit Suisse (Switzerland), Morgan Stanley, Barclays (UK), Bank of America and JP Morgan. In contrast Romney's co-frontrunner in Iowa, Ron Paul, has a top three donor list made up of the US Army, US Navy and US Airforce.

Romney’s top contributor: Goldman Sachs, Ron Paul’s: US Army

this has a sort of Star Wars epic type feel to it.

Funny, those war pimps at Goldman Sachs were also Obama's top donors:

Goldman Sachs was top Obama donor - CNN

investment bank was a generous contributor to Obama's presidential campaign.

I posted this headline on a few sites the other day. Someone pointed out that the top contributor to RP's campaign -according to the link provided- is not the US army, but Ron Paul's congressional re-election campaign. (at $500,000) I realized that later but wasn't sure how to explain why everyone is saying that the army is #1. Am I missing something here? Can someone please answer this?

This is all I've found. Anyone?

From OpenSecrets:
This table lists the top donors to this candidate in the 2012 election cycle. The organizations themselves did not donate, rather the money came from the organizations' PACs, their individual members or employees or owners, and those individuals' immediate families. Organization totals include subsidiaries and affiliates.

Because of contribution limits, organizations that bundle together many individual contributions are often among the top donors to presidential candidates. These contributions can come from the organization's members or employees (and their families). The organization may support one candidate, or hedge its bets by supporting multiple candidates. Groups with national networks of donors - like EMILY's List and Club for Growth - make for particularly big bundlers.

And bump.

The Ron Paul congressional re election campaign is a unique situation, no other candidate had a separate campaign that was suspended, so of course this is going to be the biggest single source of $ in Paul's case. But it is difficult to count it as a singe source because it was made up of many small donations from mostly individuals. Goldman Sachs is a single outside source of funds so it is much different. The congressional campaign did not have a single issue that ties them together except for the support of RP.
