Romney to select Paul Ryan for VP slot

Also consider that Ryan's a congressman, and they've not been nominated for president directly from Congress since... I don't even remember. You might have to go back to the 19th century.

Come on, if we couldn't do it, I doubt they'll be able to get Ryan nominated.;)

Hey I remember lots of people here saying it was against election laws to announce before you were nominated........what are they saying now?

He literally has a Roadmap for America's Future, true story.

Following Ryan's Roadmap ^^

Paul "add 28 years of deficits to the national debt" Ryan. Nice going assholes. I will vote for Obama now to invoke my severest rebuke of the Republican Party. I apologize if I caved in some way to the false left-right paradigm.

Obama 2012!

They can announce whomever, Ron Paul could announce a running mate if he wanted. In modern elections they have managed to attach some kind of meaning to it by making it a media event, but the reality is that the VP has to get the votes at the convention just like the P. Most of the recent conventions, it has been done by acclamation. This year, I don't see it going down that way, but let Mitt get a bump in the polls this week. By the time the RNC rolls around, those points will be all used up by whatever dumb thing he says next week.

OOooo, Paul Ryan wants to replace Medicare with Vouchers...Ouch!...there goes Romney's senior citizens.

With the selection of Paul Ryan, it's official that the GOP are throwing the fight. It's another 4 more years of Obama.

Chatter from the Obama camp saying with the Paul Ryan as VP, that Obama has it sown up.

I don't think Ryan's addition to the ticket has any affect on the outcome of the race. But the Obamabots are delusional if they don't think that Ryan is popular in the GOP. Probably more popular than Mitt, really.

My thoughts exactly. Not that he would be any better, but I was expecting Rubio.

I was hoping for Rubio too. The Republican Party - that so many in here including Ron Paul want to be a part of - is in deep trouble in number terms. Pat Buchanan recently did a great article explaining why. The white vote is shrinking. The religious vote is shrinking. They won't adapt socially on issues like gay marriage in which 17-29 year olds overwhelming support by 70%. CA is the big daddy electorally and Republicans are shrinking fast there too and this is from a state Reagan and Nixon won multiple times. A few other states like NY, NJ, IL have been completely out of reach as well. The only ethnic group growing as a percentage of the population are "hispanics."

Rubio would have been the better pick long term - although technically Cuban heritage - for the Republican Party if they cared. It would have put FL in the bag for Romney as well.

The only thing Paul Ryan has going for him is that he is very good looking. Which believe it or not these days is a factor for the Presidency. :(

Paul Ryan is one of the least vetted "high profile" Congressman out there. He's more a name than a figure! Romney has to rely on the media to not put Ryan's dirty laundry out there. And he's from Wisconsin so he'll get a Walker bump. But is Wisconsin a big swing state this election? Contested but not a deal maker imho.

For the record, I do think there's some intentional "Paul" shenanigans going on here. The name similarity is probably strategic. "Oh it's Paul! Didn't we vote for him in the primary?" Romney will siphon a few votes on that alone. People are dumb.
