Romney "Suspending" Campaign

we have all the Conservative talk show pundits on our side with Romney out, since they all hate the Huckster and McCain.

WOOHOOO ! Golden Opportunity here !

What exactly forces a delegate to vote for the candidate he/she is bound to?

Fear of arrest?

Will a dissenting vote simply not be counted?

What?

Rules "binding" delegates are set by state election law. Penalties would be set by same.

could be. but if he does suspend his campaign then we need to go back over to the Romney forum and get them to switch to us.

If Romney Returns, He Hurts Himself

C'mon now folks, please don't worry about Romney's "suspension." If he tries to return it's John Kerry all over again. Talk about flip flop :p

we will get the mormon vote.

Romney dropping out just means McCain will get more delegates faster.

We might get more delegates than we would've otherwise, but so what.

If there was some sort of scenario that the media would admit we exist, we might have an argument, but still.

We have to hammer McCain with all our might.

We have a dozen or so LDS members in our group. The Mormons have been very conflicted in their support. Based on discussions with our members, I agree with your statement.

Unfortunately I don't think we can mathematically win the nomination without a brokered convention. Is that correct?

It will be brokered if McCain doesn't pull nearly all of the rest of the delegates to get 51%. As long as Mitt doesn't specifically resign his to McCain, 51% is still far away.

Romney suspending ends any chance of a brokered convention everyone here is dreaming about. We have been pulling on average single digets picking up a few romney voters will not help us enough to begine beating Mccain everywhere which we need to do to get a brokered convention or win the most amount of delegates. Those of you happy Romney is suspending out are fooling yourselves. You should be begging that huck dops out as well now to give us any remote chance.

He's keeping his statewide delegates (MI for instance), but why would county (or district) delegates show up or vote for him now? He won a lot of caucus states where official delegates have yet to be chosen. And RP showed up 2nd most of the time.

Z

Do we know all those states?

Louisiana, Maine, Nevada, Montana... any others?

You haven't figured out yet that we're doomed, huh?

At least we might win a state.

lulz of despair. I wish he would endorse Ron. That would cement his conservatism next to McCain.

I don't think so. Paul has finished 2nd to Romney in a couple places.
