Or at least potentially.

Romney 2012
Romney 2016
-------------
- Pending currency collapse, mounting debt, people turn against all "republicans" again like they did with Bush and blame the free market
-------------
Democrat 2020
Democrat 2024
-------------
- Things get even worse and descend into full-blown socialism
------------
2028 becomes next opportunity for a liberty president

Another 4 years of Obama will be terrible...but just imagine another 16 years of it.

I think I'm starting to agree with you guys more on that. Romney came out today and even said that he's pro abortion, opposes overturning Roe v. Wade. So he confirmed to me today that he basically is just a liberal Democrat who happens to be a registered Republican. He's on the wrong side of the two most important issues I care about, opposing pre-emptive war and opposing abortion. So, I think it probably is true that we might be in better shape if we're able to nominate a true pro life, pro liberty candidate in 2016.

Link?

Even worse, a Romney/Ryan Presidency gives the establishment renewed legitimacy just at a time when their power is slipping over the party. People will be much more willing to go with a true liberty ticket if they see another establishment candidate lose and polarize even further against Obama and statism.

If "Traditional Conservative" heard that it sounds like that now that Romney has secured the nomination he will now try to appease the left, flip-flopping back from Conservative talking points.

If true Romney just lost the election. The problem with the Republican party is that it has not moved far enough to the Conservative and Libertarian camp which is why the lose elections. But they seem to believe the country has moved so far to the left that the Republican party needs to move to the left.

This is why I was thinking an Obama win would be worse since it would be spun as the Republican party being too extreme to the right. Thus the Overton window would move far to the left for 2016 and also damage House and Senate races.

No worries. Romney is going to lose. Look at the roll call. 10% of the GOP still doesn't support him. No way he wins the general without them.

You, sir, are entirely and 100 percent correct.

If you folks want to wait another 16 years, until some of you are balding and middle aged and others of us are dead, to try this once again, by all means, do NOT do everything in your power to torpedo Obamney right here and right now.

Getting thrashed twice in row might even snap some more blinded GOPers out of their trance.

So if you want another chance at bat in 2016, then do everything, and I mean EVERYTHING you can, to make sure that Romney and the GOP gets a mud hole stomped in their asses this fall.

Or at least potentially.

The Romney/Ryan administration will do nothing, because there won't be a Romney/Ryan administration. The GOP just handed Obama a second term on a silver platter. Romney couldn't beat him at badminton.

Absolutely...Romney must not be allowed to win the Presidency.

I'm to the point where I'm almost ready to vote straight-ticket democrat and watch the whole thing burn.

I won't give up on the GOP, I suppose, but I WILL humble them. The current GOP is far too arrogant to be rewarded with a victory in November (just as you wouldn't give candy to a child who misbehaves in the grocery store), and the only thing that will get them to pay attention is to lose election after election until they have no choice but to listen.

That's why it is important to work on the house and senate, so that there will be an opposition wing no matter who the president is.

I like to think the liberty movement isn't so shallow that losing popularity contests would destroy it. If so, that's sad. :( Really, in the long run it's necessary to make the best of wins and losses (same as in real life).

Instead of lamenting "woe is me" all day, y'all out to find more productive ways to use the situation to your advantage. My advice is get your own shit in order while you can. When TSHTF, you won't have the luxury of getting supplies at the store and everyday stuff like that.

Yep, I'm rooting (but not voting for) Obama.
