Romney has made an ad buy in Maine as his campaign now views the state as critical for regaining momentum. If you don't believe Maine matters, just try losing it and then you'll find out how big a deal it was. Romney is campaigning in Maine on Friday, and now he has ads up. This is a huge risk for Romney because now he has legitimately contested the state. This is a true battle now.

FROM POLITICO:

"Mitt Romney’s campaign is buying cable airtime in Maine as that state completes its week-long caucus process, a media-monitoring source tells POLITICO.

Maine, which Romney won in 2008 and began voting last weekend, is now the former Massachusetts governor’s only chance at pulling a victory out of this week. Ron Paul is the only other candidate who has been contesting the state aggressively.

I’m told Romney’s flight is a small buy exclusively on Fox News, so far."

Last minute buy, he wasn't planning on contesting Maine, hoping he would get a few of the last three states. Smells of desperation, hope we win and give make him 0-4 in the last four states.

Has Ron done anything in the state since the 2 day visit back on January 27-28?

I want to get a handle on what constitutes "contesting the state aggressively".

Have radio, newspaper, tv ads been running?

The problem with Maine is most people don't caucus. Only a few thousand caucused in 2008.

Exactly, so if Ron can drag 50 more to the booths it's a real impact. And if not Ron, then why not his campaign surrogates like Wead?

We need to do something...

Quit being critical.

Look at the data from the previous elections.
I'm not a statistician. But, the numbers don't lie.
Due to a very convoluted chain of causality, there is small handful of people in this country who can swing an election. They are the opinion makers, the leaders, the initiators of a domino effect that can bring in sweeping changes.
And, they usually aren't who you would expect. Wolf Blitzer? Donald Trump? Rosey ODonnoel?
Nope.
If you look at the data, you will find that the elaborate web of relationships that comprise our society have a few Super-Nodes... a few people who's opinions can have an indirect effect on millions.

Where are these people?

That's simple.

They are in Ron Paul's neighborhood in Lake Jackson, Texas.
All 7 of them.
One is a mailman, three are housewives, a plumber, a CPA, and an illegal that trims hedges.
If you can get them on your side, the election is all yours.
And, Ron Paul is there. Today. Meeting with them. Sporting his moves on his new campaign bike. Swapping recipes. Complementing the hedges.

He knows what he's doing.

Lake Jackson, Texas is the center of the political landscape in this country. Paul's there. The other's are not.
Go Paul!!

Yep. TV advertising won't help.

The ground game is what matters, and even without RP himself there.. We have it. Unless our supporters only attend rallies with RP, and don't bother to register/vote. oops.

If the presence of Ron in Maine is anything like the presence he had in NV this time, then Romney wins . It's as simple as that. If Ron doesn't outright win this state, there is no more campaign. Literally, zero chance of raising any more money or taking this thing to the convention with a significant number of delegates.

What people don't remember is that we had to drag Ron kicking and screaming to NV in 2008. He didn't want to come and became quite angry when we tried to deliver him delegates. If he's not living in Maine, then what the hell is he doing?

I don't understand why the rp camp is not on the ground in Maine today and tomorrow barnstorming like there was no tomorrow.

That made absolutely no sense. How is a mailman, three housewives, a CPA, and an illegal hedge-trimmer in Lake Jackson, Texas going to help us win the Maine caucus on Saturday?

The Ron Paul campaign has been on the ground in Maine for a long time. It isn't as if the caucuses are just starting.

I guess we'll see if the campaign is serious about winning. Ron should be in Maine today or tomorrow doing about 5-6 stops Friday and then he should be at the biggest caucus county/pct stumping for votes...if not, then can you really say the campaign is serious. From what everyone is saying Ron has the bets chance to win Maine, even John King on CNN said he'll give Maine to Ron Paul. ???

EDIT: http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?359642-Paul-to-be-in-Maine-on-Saturday

I guess the campaign is serious but Sat. may be too late, no?

Do we need to do GOTV with Ron Paul himself? Someone run by his house and pick him up and get him on a flight to Maine.

That's not a problem for us. If most GOPers in ME voted Ron Paul wouldn't come close to winning. It's because that only the super dedicated vote in ME that Ron Paul has a chance of winning.
