Romney CAUGHT CHEATING - Campaign Over - Paul vs. Obama ( I hope so)

Be careful.......very careful.......Logic and common sense have a way of overpowering emotion......You might find your views changing.
That or the buddies he/she brought with will sway us to change ours. The later makes more sense to me .. but I don't see either one happening personally. Ohhh well - Ron Paul 2012 !!

Eh, I shouldn't have come into this thread in the first place. The thing is that I've always agreed with you guys on some issues- I believe that a less hawkish foreign policy, for instance, would be a good thing (thus putting me in perpetual arguments with the 'neocons', particularly over Iran), but not on plenty of others. I am not here to convert you (I probably wouldn't be able to even if I tried) and I highly doubt that you all could convert me- and, frankly, that is okay. There is nothing wrong with having a difference of opinions, and logic can lead many people to differing viewpoints, and that is also okay.

Back on topic, I dislike that letter because it combines the two thing that I abhor- sensationalism and bullying, particularly because for all we know (and I believe the letter even alludes to this) the poor woman really did just make a mistake.

I hate to say it but I agree with Ivash concerning the letter. (Nothing else though..) Trust me, I am from Arkansas and I am not fond of Monica Serrano by any means but the letter I just read sounds like a high school student wrote it at best. I call bull on this one...

Fair enough. :)

I agree. The end of the letter, where it says,
Any Delegate who votes for Mitt Romney will never have a future with the Republican Party and will be
purged from the Republican Party. They will never hold public office and I will not rest until they spend the
rest of their lives regretting that they let down their Country in its greatest moment of need.

This looks like a violation of the same Federal law the case is trying to enforce. If this letter is authentic, then it shows extremely poor judgement and hypocrisy on the part of Gilbert... It certainly sounds like a form of intimidation in order to influence someone's vote.

As cantankerous as this lawyer is, I'm leaning toward thinking the letter is fake. (Especially since the last name of the addressee isn't included in the salutation.) If it isn't fake, then Gilbert is not the sharpest tool in the shed.

Lots of people finish their bachelors in under 4. I imagine some of the type of students that are the law-school type could easily do this too and may be likely to do so in order to save some money. Hence why I see nothing wrong with the 6+ years assessment. :p

It's like saying you went to college for 16 years, if you count grade school, junior high and high school.

College isn't law school.

Yes, college can take more or less than 4 years.

I like his letter.

I like the letter up until the last paragraph. The last paragraph probably makes the writer guilty of trying to intimidate/threaten in order to influence someone's vote, the same thing the lawsuit is all about. (Therefore I hope the letter is fake.)

telling criminals they will not prevail in the future isn't an act of aggression.

The problem is, the letter is threatening negative consequences for any Delegate who votes Romney... I'm not saying that I disagree, I'm just saying from a legal standpoint I don't think it would be good to do. Again though, I don't think the letter is genuine for this reason. Gilbert has stated already that if someone wants to vote for Romney of their own free will then he wants them to vote for Romney; they each should vote their conscience. So I really doubt he wrote it.

If you get a good long lists of these things together all organized someone could take them to the floor and make a motion to remove Mitt Romney from the ballot for nomination. Might seem like a long shot but as long as your case is well documented and can hold water you should be able to get your motion agreed to.

You would also want to pass out many pages of documentation of this to every seated delegate at the convention. When Romney fumbles to deny the accusations this is when you know you have him cornered.

Remember though its all key about having proof and being organized ready to present your case. And this lawsuit from what it sounds like is the beginning of Ron Paul people simply organizing themselves in defense and being able to make their case. For too long the cheating has been going on and I think these people have had enough and have enough evidence.

Anyone else that's been cheated should organize themselves with these and other Ron Paul people that have been cheated. And stand together shoulder to shoulder this way you stand out so much that the media cant ignore you any longer.

From person involved in case:
Yesterday, I received an intimidating phonecall from our county elections clerk, stating i am the subject of a criminal investigation, for speaking out about the farce of a primary in Austin, Texas. I know I did not break any laws or rules (i was very careful in what I said), and I am sure they will be digging away, trying to make it so, but there’s nothing for them to find.
Still, nobody ever said standing up for right was a popular position or an easy task. All we can do is what we do.
Well, as I did sign with the lawsuit, as a witness, i am already protected. And Mr Gilbert did get on this within hours of the phone call. I can’t say it worried me any less, because I know the lengths these “folk” will go to in order to prove me wrong (evil, cheating, anything else), but I did feel a little better knowing I have a strong person on my side.
The letter to the county clerk was nothing short of scathing.
Oh, yes; they threatened me that I am the subject of a criminal investigation. And, they removed me from my post (Rep judge of run-off elections scheduled for xx). When I was pleasant about all this woman had to say, she said, “Neither the Democrats nor the Republicans want you!”
I immediately turned to Richard Gilbert by typing up the words used. He fired off a letter to her reminding Ms DeBeauvois that I am a plaintiff in a federal case. I hope that has her shaking in her own boots.

Either way, I did nothing wrong, and I know i did nothing wrong.
...
Anyway, it all started when I was hired (and they were “thrilled to have” me) to work the primary. I saw Dr Paul take 2/3 of the vote (according to what people volunteered as they signed-in to vote) so I expected to write-up a rave piece, saying Texas, or at least Austin, had gotten it right.
It’s all on my blog; click on my pic, here, to see it. I was then asked to join in the lawsuit against RNC/GOP Texas, and I did. I have been telling people they are protected once they sign on, and this is the perfect way to test it, I suppose. Even if it has to be me, it has to be me.
...
Why would she call me, rather than have me served, if she did not mean to threaten me into silence?

*she posted it I am just reposting it so there is nothing "secret" in it.

I must admit my curiosity is at all time high...I know that for some of you this case is just legal jibber-jabber but for me it is so interesting and exciting....

thanks for sharing.

That sounds like Anne Beckett. She has posted her story on her blog, and been on a radio show talking about it. I believe what she has written and talked about, and she has always been quick to provide any clarification to parts of her story. Sounds like she's been the victim of 'small town politics'.

What probably happened is that someone(s) took exception to her story, her having made it public, or her discussing what goes on in the TX election process. What they jumped on is the part where she mentioned that she did an informal poll by marking on her hand which people came in for which ballot. And also that she was an election judge. So they called up the election clerk's office raising hell about it.

Unfortunate that they went after her like that for telling her story.

This is a "cease and desist" letter he supposedly wrote to soemone in AR :

https://docs.google.com/file/d/1Vw_...DCCFKJqpvcGm4_NuYXz1JOn9XlemOmZ/preview?pli=1

He hasn't said whether or not that letter was really written by him, but it's not too far off from what he says in the recordings, and on his twitter:
https://twitter.com/usa_free_press

Strong statements, indeed.

That has to be the funniest, most idiotic thing I've read in a long time. These people are nobodies. They can't even possibly begin to dream about doing the things stated in the letter.

I haven't been following this at all, but are these the people running this lawsuit? That would be hilarious! Lord Almighty, I'd give a lot to see such bombastic blowhards run out of court!

This letter (if it's even real), is a bit bombastic, I agree.

But -- "These people are nobodies" ?? Gilbert's name may not we well known today, but that could also be said of everyone who isn't a nobody, before they became somebody. Oprah Winfrey was once a nobody. Steve Jobs was once a nobody. Ron Paul was once a nobody.

Rosa Parks was a nobody.

Until she decided one day she wasn't going to shut up and move to the back of the bus like good law abiding n***ers were supposed to do.

You can laugh all you want, but personally I think we're watching history in the making.

Here are all the filings, around page 140 begins the correspondence and response from the RNC attorneys:
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B42o0yg7D7tcZG5Xb0hEclBiejQ/edit

Their motion to dismiss is strong. They are saying they can choose whatever delegates they want, and have US Supreme Court precedents to back it up. He has to file a response by Friday, and hopefully it won't be "defendants are trolls".

Every time they quote from his complaint they are using [sic] everywhere, because he has a bad habit of capitalizing words; if his response doesn't have specific allegations, those parts of the complaint will get dismissed. though the judge doesn't have to dismiss the whole thing, just parts.
