Rolling Stone: Rand Paul is Losing His Own Flame War

This indictment is not good by any stretch of the imagination and the less the public knew about was beneficial.

It won't hurt at all when it was the Obama Justice Department that indicted them. Every conservative Republican knows that the Obama Justice Department goes after their political opponents. If this gets brought up Rand can frame it as yet another example of the Obama administration targeting their political opponents.

Whoever wrote this article is straining their asshole trying to sound cool.

The thirst is real.

Well, if Rand doesn't, I hope that someone else will. The guy is a flaming liberal. A race between him and Hillary would basically be like two Democrats running against each other.

Win, win for the ruling class.

RollingStone can suck it.

Quick Google image search shows who they're shilling for...

Now let's look at Republicans on the cover...

Amazing, isn't it, how many Republicans there are like the OP who are perfectly willing to let some 'news authority' that they know is chock-a-bloc with Democrats tell them which candidate they shouldn't support, even though anyone with three or four functioning brain cells would realize that a bunch of Democrats would tell them to stay the hell away from that Reagan guy because--God forbid--he could actually win.

SPOILER ALERT: Democrats never use their liberal media to slam a Republican who can't win during primary season. Only the ones who can win the general election get this treatment. And the fact that way, way too many Republicans follow authority blindly like good little sheep makes whatever comes off a printing press curiously effective against these self-styled self-sufficient, independent-thinking he-men.

The problem is not attacking Trump. The problem attacking with accusations that can easily be thrown back in Rand's face such as party loyalty, crookedness, accepting donations from Trump, etc. You don't bring a knife to a gun fight. You attack to throw off your opponent and put him on the defensive, not have him swat you down like annoying fly.

By the way, anyone thinking Trump is just full of hot air and has no campaign structure should read the Washington Post article about he's creating an Iowa campaign office staffed with veteran Iowa and Midwest political operatives, not just his paid flunkies who have no clue what they're doing. This isn't performance art anymore, Trump is damn serious this time which I admit I was wrong about.

Like I said, completely avoidable. Now the vultures are circling.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/vi...ther_run_for_senate_or_run_for_president.html

The vultures at RCP have been circling the Paul family for over ten years. They figure if they exaggerate the rumors of his demise enough, they'll magically come true. And so long as people are stupid enough to take the site seriously, it's just possible.

But I think you're the last one on earth who does, in fact, take them seriously.

Anything he can latch on to to disparage the Pauls and bring division to Rand's base of support.

And Donald Trump, who may be the greatest troll in a generation, is bringing out the worst of this. Rand Paul is mad. Rand Paul is not composed, and he is real mad.

And when they give Trump the Nobel Peace Prize ya'll will be saying he earned it.....

He's drawing negative attention back on his own campaign, and he's undermining his default brand – that of the semi-cool academic type who can't be bothered with how wrong everyone is

Why the hell would you get involved in politics if you can't be bothered with how wrong everyone is? And WTF is 'semi-cool academic type'?

Please don't click the link and give these scrubs money.

It's true Rand and/or his campaign staff, I don't know who writes this stuff, were not smart to go after that idiot Trump. You lower yourself to Trump's level by even acknowledging or responding to him. Just stay quiet and wait for the inevitable Trump flame out amid scandal gaffe and bimbo explosion. We all know it's coming. After that is over the real primary will begin. Why risk damage before it actually starts?

The problem isn't even so much attacking Trump as the lack of establishing a proper foundation first. If people perceived Rand as a Conservative, Anti-Establishment candidate, his attacks might be effective. But the campaign never did anything to establish that identity. To the contrary, most GOP voters see Rand as a sort of "liberal", soft, RINO candidate and attacking Trump from that position only further reinforces the negative stereotypes about Rand that have already taken hold.

Oh, no. The filibuster that killed the PATRIOT Act, his exposure of Senate RINOs, and all that other stuff that Rand Paul was doing and no other Senator had the cojones to even attempt, none of it established anything at all.

Because perception. In other words, those who aren't paying attention are unconfused by facts and are letting the bullshitters make up their minds for them.

Like we're going to prevent that from happening. Or ever let it slow us down before.

Because forcing a vote to defund Planned Parenthood is such a liberal RINO move.

I think it's time to start calling these spammers out for posting the same old debunked lies in new threads. Because spammers do get banned.

Letting people post bullshit is just honoring free speech. Letting them post the same bullshit over and over is another thing.

I'm just telling you what the perception is. The Planned Parenthood thing was the first "Conservative" PR stunt he's pulled in a long, long time and abortion is a niche thing that only excites a certain portion of the base anyway. The reality is Rand has a serious image problem. My informal polling of all my Republican friends in NC gives me first hand knowledge of this, and all the national polls confirm it. Rand needs to bring back 2010 Rand, and bring him back fast, if he has any hope of turning this thing around. Trump is just a symptom, he is not the disease.
