"We can't be a party of small government, free markets and low taxes while supporting bailouts and nationalizing industries, which lead to big government, socialism and high taxes at the expense of individual liberty and freedoms," said Solomon Yue, an Oregon member and co-sponsor of a resolution that criticizes the U.S. government bailouts of the financial and auto industries.

Yeehaw! :D

The resolution says: "WHEREAS, the Bank Bailout Bill effectively nationalized the Nation's banking system, giving the United States non-voting warrants from participating financial institutions, and moving our free market based economy another dangerous step closer toward socialism; and WHEREAS, what was needed, and is still needed, to fix the banking industry is not a bailout, but rather a commitment to fiscal responsibility."

The RNC revolutionaries leave no doubt they mean to turn the committee into policy-producing and enforcing machine.

It would be nice to add something about returning to a sound currency, but I guess "fiscal responsibility" is better than a bailout. :)

typical gop BS, it is just a joke. the gop is mocking us and trying to kiss our ass and say what needs to be said ,but with no action.
the gop is corrupt period and a bunch of liars!!!

THE SCUM PARTY= GOP

a little too late you fucking worms

although, it'll be interesting to compare the list of endorsees for this to the list of GOP bailout supporters. Three guesses what that's going to look like...

Like Grimnir says, it's a little f#ckin late.

About a resolution that would reverse the bailouts instead of just saving face.

Who cares? It pales in comparison to their Presidential candidate holding hands with Obama and screaming for the bailout just a couple months ago. And whether it goes on the books or not, the GOP won't follow it. It will be conveniently buried when the next bailout comes out and most of the Republicans join the Dems in voting for it.

This is just a sad attempt to reel nominal libertarians and real conservatives back in like beaten wives clinging to the same guy while desperately thinking "maybe with a miracle, he'll change!"

RNC draft rips Bush's bailouts

Read the entire thing, but here are a couple of excerpts:

Republican Party officials say they will try next month to pass a resolution accusing President Bush and congressional Republican leaders of embracing "socialism," underscoring deep dissension within the party at the end of Mr. Bush's administration.

Republican National Committee Vice Chairman James Bopp Jr. wrote the resolution and asked the rest of the 168 voting members to sign it.

"The resolution also opposes President-elect Obama's proposed public works program and supports conservative alternatives," while encouraging the RNC "to engage in vigorous public policy debates consistent with our party platform," said Mr. Bopp, a leading attorney for pro-life groups who has also challenged the campaign finance legislation that Mr. Bush signed.

It will mean more when they figure out who the next head of the RNC will be.

Is this going to go next to the pre-existing section on opposing bailouts of private industries?

OHHH Now they want to reflect the will of the people! You reckon they heard some thing or does ol George just not need the lightbulb under his desk changed anymore?

Who is dumb enough to believe this POLITICAL hay-making manuever....just like kerry's infamous ""I actually did vote for the $87 billion before I voted against it."

The GOP douche bags have the same masters that are cashing in on the hidden handouts

Why can't the GOP quietly finish it's assimilation into a one party system controlled by the democrats or you know just like gracefully die?

If the RNC's resolution passes, then perhaps I'll reconsider leaving the party.

"We can't be a party of small government, free markets and low taxes while supporting bailouts and nationalizing industries, which lead to big government [better known as fascism], socialism and high taxes at the expense of individual liberty and freedoms..."

I would also add that if we are to return to our core values, then we must also abandon the Bush Doctrine of preemptive war, nation building/occupation, and whoring for the pharmicutical, oil, and banking establishments.

Also, while I'm at it, we must also push for the repeal of the Patriot Act, and the Dept. of Homeland Security. Bush used "homeland," and created the DoHS. Hitler used, "fatherland," and created the SS.

Immigration and amnesty for illegals was also something Bush pushed for early in his first term, proving not long after his election that he was not a true conservative.

I beleive Dubya, Cheney, and the entire cabinet should be indicted for crimes against the Constitution, and the American People. As an example for future presidents, Dubya's legacy should be that he was the only president to be charged, convicted, and jailed for crimes committed during his presidency.

What better way to prove the RNC is getting back to it's core values, and to appeal to the more liberal minding folks, than for the RNC to sponsor a movement to indict Dubya and his pals.

Agreed, a little late. However, there's no time like the present to regroup, and get back to our core values. Its the only way the RNC can adapt to changes - something they FAILED to do during the last election.

However, I agree, the RNC should have been just as against Bush as the liberals have been. Bush was never a true conservative. He was a fraud every bit as much as Obama is. I had hoped to get some satisfaction when Bush left office, but with Obama in there, all I get is trepidation.:(
