I'm sick to death of this stupid narrative that Tyler Robinson's father turning him in is some kind of proof of his guilt.

First, he didn't turn him in. He talked with his son, then asked a retired sheriff from church to arrange a nonviolent surrender. Tyler Robinson turned himself in.

Second, you don't have to watch many reruns of Perry Mason to understand that this is has been the American conventional wisdom for a long time. If you're innocent yet they want you, turn yourself in, and trust the justice system to administer actual justice. And the elder Mr. Robinson sounds just Republican enough to buy that.
