Rick Santorum: "We're not the Libertarian Party, we're the Republican Party"

I agree with this.

Really, the only libertarian pro-choice arguments that pass any degree of logic are the evictionist arguments from guys like Block and I think Rothbard as well. The debates to try to make the fetus as not being a human being with rights are ridiculous and reek of the same "logic" that animal rights advocates use. The extreme animal rights advocates are certainly not libertarian.

I make it from a property rights argument. Your body is private property. Even if you believe the fetus is a life, if the woman doesn't want it and it the fetus doesn't leave (which it obv. can't) then she has the right to forcibly remove it. The fetus' rights stop where her rights begin and it is violating her property rights in the same way an intruder would be violating your rights if they broke into your home.

Although I flip back and forth on this issue.

The preferred plot line for many in the GOP establishment for revitalizing their party goes something like this: They move to a more libertarian stance on key social issues — particularly same-sex marriage — and the Bible-thumping, evangelical wing of the party meekly complies, realizing times have changed.
One problem with that scenario, however: The Christian Right, while a diminished force, doesn’t like how that story ends at all.
Leading cultural conservatives, including the movement’s standard-bearers from the past two presidential campaigns, have had it with Republican elites faulting them for the party’s losses and are finally ready point a finger back at the establishment.
“Look, the Republican Party isn’t going to change,” former Sen. Rick Santorum said in an interview. “If we do change, we’ll be the Whig Party.”
Santorum continued: “We’re not the Libertarian Party, we’re the Republican Party.”

This video reminds me of the dynamics within the Republican party...

He meant to say that we are the neocon party. Well, traditional Republicans are tired of the necons and are taking their party back Santroum.

What wing of the Republican Party has always been in favor of Gay Marriage?

I remember him revering in our possible involvement in Iranian scientists' assassinations. It made me sick.

Rick Santorum is santorum. That he even has a voice in the republican party annoys me, though it doesn't surprise me.

Romney was far worse.

There is plenty for conservatives to argue about....at the state level. If social conservatives would just accept this constitutional concept we could ally at the Federal Level and kick ass. Its too bad they want a goddamn theocracy instead of a constitutional government

I think we just need to keep pushing our message to social conservatives at the grassroots level and show them how getting government out of issues protects our values most effectively. It's also interesting to see the schism of "libertarians" on the issue, and how distorted the labels get. I'll never forget Walter Block getting booed when talking about abortion at the Rally for the Republic. It seemed that most of the people there, even though they were young, were pro-life. Moreover, I think a lot of RP "supporters" seemed to not know how he stands on life. I see so many self-proclaimed libertarians trashing Rand and Amash because they're pro-life...

And the obvious success of such policies should be expanded into all aspects of life....

Sorry, but I am not not nor have I ever been a libertine.

It's a no win. It's a shame that we need laws to keep people from fornicating in the streets, but I'm perfectly content with those laws. Do we need laws intended to keep people from fornicating in the bedrooms? Not so much, but liberals spent years screaming that the government shouldn't be involved in their bedrooms...finally got that sorted out, and now suddenly they're demanding government approve it.

What about Muslim-nazis, Atheist-nazis, Hindu-nazis?

There were many Muslim Nazis, among them Himmler's favorite troops and the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem-Al Quds, may his name forever be blotted out.
