“[I will] fight very strongly against libertarian influence within the Republican party and the conservative movement., he said last June. And in 2005, he remarked, “[Libertarians] have this idea that people should be left alone, be able to do whatever they want to do. Government should keep our taxes down and keep our regulation low and that we shouldn’t get involved in the bedroom, we shouldn’t get involved in cultural issues, you know, people should do whatever they want. Well, that is not how traditional conservatives view the world, and I think most conservatives understand that individuals can’t go it alone.”

Of course he does. He's a pure statist. I'm sorry, but he's worse than Romney.

No way - Santorum is leaps and bounds worse than the other candidates. He is the worst of Giuliani and Huckabee combined. Complete scum. I could see the guy becoming a Hitleresque dictator if he was given the chance.

Romney just wants people to like him.

this.

Santorum is the absolute worst.

This scum bag can't be allowed within 100 miles of the White House. Downright scary individual.

Yeah, and it's working, even on Ron Paul apparently. That doesn't mean Romney isn't just as bad as Santorum when it comes to our issues. At least Santorum deserves some credit for actually taking a stand. Romney hates libertarians but doesn't come out and say it for tactical reasons.

No he isn't. Romney hates freedom just as much if not more than Santorum.

fwiw, Romney would be all for any type of "freedom" as long as it boosts his bottom line (i.e. potential voters, favorability ratings). Santorum can't stand freedom as a philosophical matter - he wants populist authoritarianism consistent with his war-christianity. He thinks sins should be outlawed and prosecuted without consideration of the costs of doing so, and that he can pick and choose industries to be economic winners (his "domestic energy program").

Santorum is the most hard-line anti-freedom candidate.

With all due respect, i don't think ANYONE knows what Romney really believes.

Yes, Romney will say anything to get elected but that does not mean he is philosophically different than Santorum. At heart, and in how he would govern, he is just as big of an authoritarian.

Well, we know he doesn't believe in individual liberty. Romney is a guy who will tell a terminally-ill person that they have no right to use the only medicine that helps them, and he'll do it with a smirk.

that's just my point. The position he takes are for political purposes.

That's it. If Santorum is on the GOP ticket either as President or VP, I'm voting Obama. I might be serious this time.

But polls show that the vast majority support medical marijuana rights, so what would be the political purpose of coming out against it? I think it's more of an indication of his true beliefs. (There are many more but that's just an example)

If santorum is Prez/Vp I will not enlist in military

I'd urge you to reconsider no matter what. Romney has taken on just about every single one of Bush's advisers. Heck even if Obama wins it is looking likely the U.S. will be invading Iran anyway, which will be absolutely catastrophic.
