I had a thought the other day... PLEASE don't let this turn into a religious debate. It was merely an observation.
Bush, and now Perry (among others), profess a belief in the bible. At times even a fundamentalism type belief. Yet, these same people consider the Constitution "just a goddamned piece of paper". They site the Constitution as being "out of date" and "not addressing current social norms". Well, the Constitution is just over 200 years old... the bible is over 2,000 years old. I just find it a juxtaposition difficult for me to understand.
I'm down here in Texas... and lots of us really don't like Dick Parrot (that's being kind). But, at least he is proposing changing the Constitution. For decades we have had politicians and judges changing it by pretending it says something it does not. Parrot is still a dick... but at least he is suggesting we make any changes according to the Constitution... through amendments, as specified in the document.
