Um those passages are referring to the ones persecuting the Muslims in Mecca and Medina at the time.

If YOU actually read the Quran you would see that Islam views Christians and Jews as the same as Muslims, all sharing the same belief in the same Books revealed by God.

Verily! Those who believe and those who are Jews and Christians, and Sabians, whoever believes in God and the Last Day and do righteous good deeds shall have their reward with their Lord, on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve . 2:62

And there are, certainly, among the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians), those who believe in God and in that which has been revealed to you, and in that which has been revealed to them, humbling themselves before God. They do not sell the Verses of God for a little price, for them is a reward with their Lord. Surely, God is Swift in account. 3:199

Please don't claim you've read a book when you've clearly haven't, because if you did, and read the full passages you would know they were talking about the pagans who were oppressing the Muslims.

I know full well that Muslims call Jews and Christians as the "people of the book," but it is really difficult to argue these points because the Qur'an is actually contradictory (as in it affirms a and not-a) on these points. At one point it commands Muslims to kill all infidels (including Jews and Christians) everywhere, and not to stop until all the world bows the knee to Allah. Another it says to be nice to Jews and Christians because they believe in the same God, and yet at other points the Qur'an is a tome against the doctrine of the Trinity, calling it blasphemy, which Mohammad clearly did not understand.

As far as this being about Mecca and Medina, there is no specific reference to stop making war in the text. It says to continue to make war until the entire world is in submission to Allah.

I'm still trying to find the "standing army" clause of the constitution.

If Congress elects to fund an army for two years, it can. Article I, Section 8:

If this goes through, this old soldier will proclaim himself the queerest SOB in the state of Texas if I can get a big discount on my taxes- the military and veterans benefits take up a HUGE portion of the Federal "budget."

"It" should always be about rights. There are no excuses, even if gay sex distracts soliders. Does that mean that regular sex, or rape of women soliders isn't distracting? Come on.

Who is condoning rape of female soldiers? Are you trying to compare the two?

I think there are some valid concerns as to why gay soldiers are not a good idea. One concern would be how mentally stable they are. Another is showering with other guys.
