Requesting information on ak47

I wouldn't worry about guns. They will just take them away. You need to find alternative means. The one world is here. America's collapse is imminent. Ameros have been minted, Nat'l IDS required, take the mark of the beast 666 is in the UPC of the Verichip they will implant. You better believe it. Wage slaves you are owned by the corporations of the world. There is no America. Fall in line. Those who don't return their weapons, and be nice wage slaves will be discreted or eliminated. They will come to your door one by one to remove your guns. It is easier to control all defenseless poplulation. The UN world bankers and troops are coming for your house, car, and everything you own. Your local police have been working to disarm the public, beware!!!! Non-lethal tactics will be employed. Radiation and subliminal messaging, spit bags, cuffs, tasers, rubber bullets. Drugs in the water coupled with televised "programming", NLP, and lethal force. Your money is worthless already America.

Switzerland owns more guns than any other country, when was the last time they had war?

If you really want to get the low down on everything AK... just spend a few days reading on this website

www.akforum.net

Nothing but AK's, all the time.. and they're a friendly bunch too! :)

I'd just like to say, I would go for a yugo AK over a Romanian. Which is what I did. The rifle if taken care of will outlast you, you might as well get a nice one.
Is it REALLY that much of a difference? I'm very tight on money right now, and I'm not really in the position to put down too much on a different model. And I won't be rough with the thing, I'll treat my AK like a child.

Cool, I'll check it out.

By the way guys, I'm looking at these 2 things right now.

http://www.centuryarms.biz/proddetail.asp?prod=RI1188-N

and

http://www.aimsurplus.com/acatalog/NEW_AK_WASR_RIFLE_w__Bayonet_Lug___Muzzle_Break.html

Which looks like a better deal? I don't know what the price will be on the first link, I'm guessing about the same. If it is, I'm probably going with that one seeing as it comes with a cleaning kit. Who knows.

Well, Romanian WASR version are made from rejected parts that didn't cut it for military usage by the Romanians (The Romanian "G" guns are a different story). The Yugo's are all ex-military service versions... so if you are willing to take a chance on getting a lemon of an AK, you can go with the WASR, if you want to know you are getting a solid AK, then the Yugo is probably the way to go.

As a side note, if any AK you purchase is from Century, they tend to sometimes be built poorly (not always, but more than a few % points)

Just my devauled 2 cents from a self-admitted AK junkie! :)

I believe the WASRs being sold by AimSurplus.com are the "good" ones.
Thanks for the input. I think I'll stay away from Century Arms, people don't seem to like them much from what I've read. So I guess I've narrowed it down to this...

Or I might fold and just say screw it and get the Yugo shown here... The only thing I don't like is that it doesn't have a bayonet

Any more confirmation on AimSurplus having "good" WASRs?

When choosing a defensive weapon, here's some great advice. Get a gun that shoots the same ammo as your enemy. Do with that what you will.

The problem is, who will be the enemy?
Will it be people with M16s or AK47s?

Or more directly, will the enemy be imported?

Yes I'm very concerned about prices. Some of the weapons that companies like H&K offer are just way above my means. I'll admit I'm not an avid gun collector, but I'd like to dabble in it, and for the reasons you mentioned, the AK seems like a more reasonable choice.

AKs are tried and true and i would recommend it to anyone. The AR-15 is also a spectacular rifle in my humble opinion, but for under $500, it's hard to beat an AK.

I would plan on spending anywhere from $350-$500 but as anything else, you get what you pay for. these guns are available from all kinds of manufacturers. I just picked up a AK variation called a sporter 75. It's made in the USA by a company called Tennessee gun international and i love it.

Drawbacks from the ak are few and far between (all though there are issues, the pros out weigh the cons, again, IMO). Don't expect this gun to be the best long distance weapon in your arsenal. Aks, while renowned for their performance, toughness and longevity, are also know to be inaccurate at a distance.

Milled receivers are better than stamped. They are also heavier and more expensive.

Most AK ammo is wolf steal cased, so not reloadable. Brass cased ammo is available but expensive and it's generally not considered cost effective to reload it.

for ammo, try:

note that some places include shipping in the price and others don't! If you are close enough, pick it up in person and save. Bulk ammo is HEAVY!

If you are really on a tight budget, you might consider getting a C&R. That won't get you an AK or an AR, but you will be able to pick up firearms inexpensively. Ammo for them may be hard to find or expensive, however.

Well guys I decided to wait a couple more weeks and get a Yugo from aimsurplus

http://www.aimsurplus.com/acatalog/Yugoslavian_AK_M70AB1_7.62x39_Rifle.html

They seem to have the cheapest deals, and not really any complaints that I've seen. I've read into it and it seems most people agree the extra $70 for a yugo over a wasr is worth it. I really don't plan on selling the gun so I should go for quality on that margin. I'll probably have a ton more questions once I finally have the gun in my hands, but I'll save those for later.
