Tom McMillin - Michigan State Senate District 13
I'm excited about this race since I live in the district and will be doing what I can to work the ground game. Liberty activists in Michigan know McMillin is the real deal. This will probably be one of the most competitive legislature races in the State. McMillin has a lot going for him, but also has challenges.
His views align closely with Justin Amash (they worked closely together in the legislature). With only 38 members in the Senate he would be able to do much more to protect civil liberties and maybe strengthen the anti-NDAA statute. Also, he lives in Mike Rogers' district....
I'll briefly summarize the "meat and potatoes" of his views:

I'll briefly summarize the "meat and potatoes" of his views:

Civil Liberties: Outstanding. Takes the lead in sponsoring a number of different bi-partisan bills to reign in the police state.

Foreign Policy: He's non-interventionist. He shared a recent facebook story from the Ron Paul Institute and said he's moved closer to Ron Paul's way of thinking on national defense.

The poll acknowledges McMillin will be a factor in the race.
Demographics: While the district has become less Republican, it still leans Republican by well over 50%. It contains some of the wealthiest cities in the state.
Miscellaneous Pros/Cons
Key strong points: Is the only candidate who is a sitting legislator (Knollenberg, Moss & Raczkowski are former State Reps.). Has substantial support in the northern area of the district. Has great grassroots support from tea party and liberty activists. He met his goal for fundraising last quarter.
Possible weak points: Knollenberg and Raczkowski have higher name recognition in the district. Raczkowski has run in high profile US Senate and US House races, but lost. The three competitors are likely to get much more special interest money and support from high profile establishment politicians.
