Request for Campaign Evaluation Thread

Tom McMillin - Michigan State Senate District 13

I'm excited about this race since I live in the district and will be doing what I can to work the ground game. Liberty activists in Michigan know McMillin is the real deal. This will probably be one of the most competitive legislature races in the State. McMillin has a lot going for him, but also has challenges.

His views align closely with Justin Amash (they worked closely together in the legislature). With only 38 members in the Senate he would be able to do much more to protect civil liberties and maybe strengthen the anti-NDAA statute. Also, he lives in Mike Rogers' district....

I'll briefly summarize the "meat and potatoes" of his views:

Candidate Name: Tom McMillin
Office Sought: Michigan State Senate District 13

Social Media:

Candidate Profile: On the Issues
Civil Liberties: Outstanding. Takes the lead in sponsoring a number of different bi-partisan bills to reign in the police state.
Economic Issues: Has voted against corporate welfare unlike other competitors.
Foreign Policy: He's non-interventionist. He shared a recent facebook story from the Ron Paul Institute and said he's moved closer to Ron Paul's way of thinking on national defense.
Social Issues: Pro-life, pro-traditional marriage. Wants to decriminalize marijuana and end the federal drug war.

Race Profile: Competition & Demographics
State: Michigan
District: State Senate 13
Incumbent: None [John Pappageorge is Term-limited]
Primary Candidates: Marty Knollenberg, Rocky Raczkowski, Chuck Moss, Al Gui [not a serious candidate?]
Primary Date: August 5th 2014

Relevant poll numbers:
Knollenberg 25.32%
Raczkowski 21.09%
McMillin 17.09%
Moss 9.92%
Undecided 26.58%

The poll acknowledges McMillin will be a factor in the race.

Demographics: While the district has become less Republican, it still leans Republican by well over 50%. It contains some of the wealthiest cities in the state.

Miscellaneous Pros/Cons
Key strong points: Is the only candidate who is a sitting legislator (Knollenberg, Moss & Raczkowski are former State Reps.). Has substantial support in the northern area of the district. Has great grassroots support from tea party and liberty activists. He met his goal for fundraising last quarter.

Possible weak points: Knollenberg and Raczkowski have higher name recognition in the district. Raczkowski has run in high profile US Senate and US House races, but lost. The three competitors are likely to get much more special interest money and support from high profile establishment politicians.

Eric Gurr for Congress, running in the GOP Primary against Boehner (Ohio’s 8th District). Seems good based on his website.

ProudAmericanFirst spent a lot of time vetting him and J.D Winteregg, another Boehner chalenger. He is strongly supporting J.D, and not Gurr. J.D has some national Tea Party backing now I believe. I second an evaluation thread for Eric Gurr. And I think Mr Winteregg needs one as well.

Can we get a thread up for David Jolly in FL? I know Rand supported him, but Rand is courting the establishment for 2016
I'd like to really analyze Jolly, who just pledged his blood, sweat, and tears to John Boehner this week.

I would like to request a liberty analysis of Dave Brat, running for the GOP nomination against Eric Cantor in VA-7.

I am running in the WV Republican primary for the House of Delegates in the 36th District. I am new to politics, but I know how to write legislation and I know the US Constitution and the WV Constitution better than any member of the House. I'm running in a 3 member district where I'm represented by 2 socialists disguised as liberal Democrats, and a progressive Democrat who is only favorable on the 2A. Any consideration, recommendations, advice will be appreciated. Facebook.com/sizemore2014 or sizemoreforhouse.com.

I would like to request a liberty analysis of Susanne Atanus, already won the Republican primary for Illinois 9th Congressional District.

Can I get an evaluation for Tho Bishop of Florida House District 6? I think his mix of DC experience, strict adherence to liberty principles and political skills make him one of the most impressive liberty candidates in the entire country.

Tim Donnelly - Governor - CA. Currently leads the polls for the republican primary. www.electtimdonnelly.com

He is pretty good but has no shot at the general. His campaign will be more educational, but could help Rand primary there in 2016.

I would like to throw up two candidates actually. Both are in my state, however, one is for a House District who is outside of mine.
