In an interesting turn of events it seems the far-right and libertarian leaning Republicans in VT are beginning to organize a second "Take Back Vermont" campaign independent of the mainline GOP and Ron Paul Republicans.
The first "Take Back Vermont" campaign was spurred over the civil union controversy and quckly gained momentum among native Vermonters. However, they failed to gain long term traction in my opinion because that became the main issue. The point that could have gained much more widespread support-- a return to conservative ideals, smaller government and rejection of activist judicial legislation-- was overshadowed by politically incorrect position on gay rights.

The next couple of years are going to be very interesting in Vermont.
