Reporting from Paul Fest Day 1 (Palin is Tampa to Cause Brokered Convention)

Working my booth at the Paul Fest today, The Wealth Creation Revelation booth, Lew Rockwell was hanging out for a few hours in front of the booth. That was awesome. I am hearing the following via word of mouth:

1) There was a disinformation attack on RP. Reports were leaked that RP conceded and said that if he won the nomination he would not accept it. The report was unfounded; Ron Paul himself came out and made a follow up statement saying that if is nominated HE WILL ACCEPT THE NOMINATION.

2) Sara Palin is in town and playing games, she is trying to steal the nomination, she sent out packets to all of the delegates asking them to vote for her if there is a brokered convention and she is trying to cause a brokered convention. I spoke to delegates at my booth who said they received the packet. None of our delegates will vote for her, putting my dislike for her aside, if she helps with a brokered convention I am fine with it because I think we could win a brokered convention.

3) Gingrich released his delegates today! And a delegate told me they are expecting Santorum to release his soon!

4) A North Carolina delegate told that there was some shuffling of delegates and North Carolina picked up a few more RP delegates.

I am so new to this and still don't understand much of the mechanics of it all....... Is it really possible for Palin to cause a brokered convention? How? If it comes down to a brokered convention, would we still need the plurality of the 5 (oops 8) states to be nominated?

She can't cause one. She's saying if there is a brokered convention between Romney and Paul, everyone should vote for her instead because no one really likes Romney.

No, a brokered convention is impossible at this point since the GOP has unseated so many of our delegates.

With the understanding all this came from a source of a source, this 'report' has numerous factual errors.

1) There was a disinformation attack on RP. Reports were leaked that RP conceded and said that if he won the nomination he would not accept it. The report was unfounded; Ron Paul himself came out and made a follow up statement saying that if is nominated HE WILL ACCEPT THE NOMINATION. The 'disinfo attack' was a miscommunication by a campaign staffer who was not in the loop, and probably based the statement on the previous Benton statement/email "will not seek to be nominated from the floor". People screw up, and sometimes a lot.
I know Tate made a clarifying statement, if RP himself made the same statement, I'd like to see it.

A brokered convention is not possible; what they meant to say was an open convention. The only way an open convention would happen is if nobody gets enough votes to win on the first ballot.

It's still not possible. Romney has over 1/2 of the delegates needed to win.

I only see this happening if there is a revolt due to the attempted power grab in the rules committee. That was major overreach and might cause some states to think twice. I still think it is pretty unlikely, but it adds a new reason for convention revolt.

Yes, If all of the Romney Delegates Don't all Vote for Romney , Despite the Bullshit made up Rules.

The Romney Campaign has Permanently Violated the GOP voting process.

The entire Convention is about electing the nominee not a coronation show of the pre-chosen nominee.

How can any delegates put up with this shit !

All of the Delegates (not just RP delegates) Could take back the GOP and Put the RNC in Check and OUT the GOP ruling elite at the convention is one swift move.

I hope we have some with backbone who regardless of bound unbound BS vote their conscious period.
