Report from Paul Fest

If you're Goldman Sachs, or Northrop Grumman, or a Trotsky RNC'er, etc.

It's also possible for us to change the tide, but that requires not playing by their rules, which it seems too many on this board think would bring us success.

Hold on a second. So you're saying that we should not change the tide because it would require us to not play by the rules, and you think playing by the rules is the only way to bring success?

Yes, If all of the Romney Delegates Don't all Vote for Romney , Despite the Bullshit made up Rules.

The Romney Campaign has Permanently Violated the GOP voting process.

The entire Convention is about electing the nominee not a coronation show of the pre-chosen nominee.

How can any delegates put up with this shit !

All of the Delegates (not just RP delegates) Could take back the GOP and Put the RNC in Check and OUT the GOP ruling elite at the convention is one swift move.

I hope we have some with backbone who regardless of bound unbound BS vote their conscious period.

WHO WOULD LEAD SUCH AN INSURRECTION?

At the GOP meetings I've attended, they operate like a steamroller. (I'm in GA.)

How can there be a brokered convention under the "first vote" rules? Romney has 1438 delegates well over the necessary 1144.

Santorum 248
Paul 166
Gingrich 142

Those are first round votes people. There is no way around it. Gingrich has released all of his delegates to vote for Romney. Most will giving Romney more first round votes.

So instead of someone blowing false hope up everyones asses and not getting all personal, how is it possible to have a brokered convention knowing the facts above???

I don't know if I agree with your numbers but I agree with the gist of your statement.
There is unfortunately, no way around it.

Santorum released his delegates as well.

A brokered convention means they go into the convention with no candidate having the required number of bound delegates needed to win. Thus, some horse trading, or 'brokering' must occur prior to the vote, which would be expected to only require 1 round of balloting.

An open convention is when the vote goes past the first ballot, and most of the delegates are released (some states bind on 2nd and 3rd ballots)

now for the $64,000 question, is a brokered convention a prerequisite for an open convention?

I completely disagree with your numbers, however, also not with the ultimate conclusion. It would only work if TWO unlikely things happened, first, others saw nominating Ron to have someone else on the ballot as necessary to oppose Romney whose team is trying to take away the federalist structure of the RNC and make it top down in Rules changes, and people not Paul folks coordinate to nominate him (very unlikely), AND a bunch then don't vote for Romney but abstain or vote otherwise (where they can). Each about as likely as being struck by lightening, but I do believe he erred in the overreach on the rules and the cancellation of Monday gives our guys more days to work against them.

Me too. I always thought if Palin attached to RP, that would be a winner. Of course I realize a lot of people don't agree, so no need to yell.

Palin/Ron could've taken it. But it would've been easier (or possible) if she had run, because Romney has it wrapped up now. Of course, because there are so many people who still need "hope" or they'll cry, there's always the chance that Romney will be struck by a meteorite. The "eaten by sharks", well, he IS in Tampa, but it's unlikely he'll be going swimming.

How am I missing things like "cancellation of Monday"? I guess I'm going to have to leave this thread and find out what's going on.

Perhaps I worded that badly. I'm saying the folks who think playing by their rules will bring us success (e.g. endorsements, obeying RNC, becoming nice littler party apparatchiks, not ruffling feathers, tip-toeing around our beliefs, etc.) are completely wrong, and if you really want to change momentum, you do the opposite of those things. (E.g., not play by their rules)

Any word on what happens if Romney's 1144 delegates don't make it (due to the storm)?

"...the Republican National Convention will convene on Monday August 27th and immediately recess until Tuesday afternoon, August 28th, exact time to follow..."

Does this mean the entire convention will be televised? And Priebus goes on to say some floor business needs to be done, including nominating Mitt and Paul Ryan, but leaves out some important details about what and when.

I smell a nomination by acclamation coming.

We need a man who plays by his own rules

Actually I was thinking Paul/Palin

Or...Maybe they could ram the acclamation vote through before the delegates get there. That would be sweet.

NOT.
