Last week JBS CEO Arthur Thompson and National Director of Field Activities Jim Fitzgerald visited Capitol Hill to present certificates to those Congressmen who scored 100 percent in the latest Freedom Index from The New American.

To score the 100 percent, Congressmen must have voted according to the Constitution on 10 votes that we select.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Walter B. Jones (NC-3) has been chosen as a recipient of the Constitution Award by The New American in honor of his perfect score on the magazine’s Freedom Index. The Freedom Index is a congressional scorecard based on 10 votes chosen by the editorial board that reflect a representative or senator’s “adherence to constitutional principles of limited government, fiscal responsibility, national sovereignty, and a traditional foreign policy of avoiding foreign entanglements.” Congressman Jones was one of only 12 members of the House and Senate to earn a score of 100 percent.

“I am honored to receive the Constitution Award from The New American,” said Congressman Jones. “Our Constitution is under constant attack, and defending America’s principles of freedom is my greatest privilege and responsibility as a member of the House of Representatives.”​

If we had the proper policy in this country where it was deregulated we were allowed to drill, allowed to put pipelines through our country, allow alternative sources to come out, don't favor one energy source over another... we would have enough energy. Anyway, if Ron Paul really does support the government taking private land to benefit a private company, that's his choice. I'm gonna have to take the side of freedom on this issue.

It doesn't have anything to do with the government taking private land. It's just about the federal government getting out of the issue and leaving it up to the states and the free market to decide. The federal government doesn't have the Constitutional authority to prevent a pipeline from being built.

Last week, President Obama was given the opportunity to turn America in the right direction. The Keystone pipeline would instantly create thousands of jobs without costing the taxpayers a dime. It would also strengthen our alliance with neighboring Canada and wean our energy dependence from the Middle East. The Keystone pipeline was in America's best interest. Yet the President rejected this pipeline and the American people, by siding with the liberal environmentalists instead.--just as he did with Solyndra.

Here is how the pipeline is being built. It's about stealing people's land and handing it to a private Canadian company for private profit. And many Republican, such as Rand and Ron Paul and Steve Stockman, think that stealing private land for private foreign profits is the right thing to do. They see it as the greater good because it will help the economy, with energy issues, and their oil friends. That's fine but this is clearly a liberty issue and these folks are on the wrong side. That is, unless they support it as long as ED isn't used. They are may still be on the liberty side of this issue Unfortunately, the private foreign company has already used ED to steal land in Texas.

I guess that's legal in TX, but it isn't legal where I live. And if fact, another private foreign company was thinking about trying it in NH with Northern Pass, and that's why the law was created. And Ron Paul's opposition to Northern Pass is part of the reason he did so well in northern NH during the 2012 primary.

NORFOLK, NEBRASKA – (Marketwired – June 12, 2013) - TransCanada Corporation announced today that it has begun the process of de-registering certain easements that it has acquired for its original Keystone XL Pipeline route in Nebraska, which the company has agreed to re-route to avoid the defined Sandhills area and the Clarks and Western wellhead protection areas.

“We appreciate the early support and cooperation that we received from many Nebraska landowners for the original Keystone XL route. We have received approval for a different route and can now begin the work that is necessary to de-register easement agreements that are no longer required,” said Corey Goulet, vice-president, Keystone Projects, TransCanada.

“This will not require any work on behalf of the impacted landowners and our land and legal team expects to have this work completed in the next two to three months,” added Goulet. “In keeping with what we have said and what is standard practice for TransCanada, the landowners involved will be able to retain the payments made to them in exchange for these easement agreements.”

TransCanada representatives will de-register easement agreements on properties in the following counties: Boone, Garfield, Greeley, Hamilton, Holt, Jefferson, Keya Paha, Merrick, Nance, Rock, Saline, York and Wheeler. In total, the easements that will be de-registered involve 288 landowners who controlled 367 properties and 58 temporary work space agreements.

“As we go through the process of releasing these easement agreements, our land agents are also working towards obtaining easements for the new (and approved) Keystone XL Pipeline route in Nebraska. We will keep working with affected landowners in an open and transparent manner and we look forward to continuing to earn the trust of the people whose land our pipeline will cross,” concluded Goulet.
