Seems like a good idea from here..

Repeal every law written since 1900,

Gold/silver backed currency.

Fire every politician and elected official and bar them from ever holding office again. Especially judges!

All federal agencies and programs not in existence in 1900.........Gone!

It'd only hurt for one generation that way.....

even less than a generation. i'd guess 5-7 years readjustment time.

Man imagine how much better the economy would be if all that money stopped flowing to MIC and other countries and leeches.

Even though I don't believe any politics well help us....what could average people like us do to get a reboot like this on the books? Petitions?

If there was real money involved every man/woman and child would suffer in order to support not just the MIC but government as a whole..

It's all interconnected though....

Personally I think the declaration and constitution are sound documents that have been bastardized by generations of politicians and lawyers....

The pipe dream of giving all of them the ax in order to reboot sounds logical to me...

Hell NO!

Writing papers and whining is what has gotten us the government we have now.

Even as far as 1912 would be excellent. I am in , currency backed by something , no medicare/medicaid, little in the way of tax , :) sweet.

Interesting thought. That would leave us with the departments of: state, treasury, justice, interior and agriculture.

There would be no income tax

There is electricity, both AC and DC, street lights, street cars, motors, telegraph. There is limited radio and telephone but no television, computers, internet, or cell phones.

Money (FRN's) would probably not be worth much, other than a way to deal with the looming TP shortage and as fuel to keep warm.

Things like gasoline as well as everything else will become hard to find.

Lets take a look at a hypothetical. 2-3 high altitude EMP pulse (HEMP) bombs go off over the country and fry just about all electronics. It's worth noting that we don't make transformers in this country any more. There was a hurricane a while back, I want to say Hugo? Anyway, it took out so many transformers that it took 8 months to re-establish the grid down in FL because the transformers had to be ordered from Japan. What if we lost most of the transformers in the country? What if someone got pissed off at us and decided to embargo us?

Well, how would you fare in such a situation?

If you are dependent on maintenance drugs, you will most likely die.
If you live in a city, you will most likely die. - rioting, 3 days worth of food on the shelves, 1-2 weeks in distribution warehouses.
If you live in the suburbs, you have a fair chance of living. Problems are the people fleeing the city and limited space to grow food. Closer to farms though.
If you live in the country, you will probably survive. You most likely have to skills to be self sufficient, already are to some extent and are able to provide for others. This is 5% of our population.

How do you think you would fare in such a situation?

You act like there is a good way out of this. How can you can and prepare for people that don't care anyways. The worst of it will be over in a month.

Loosing 80-95% of the population and throwing us back a century, technologically is not what I would consider a "good way" out.

Agree that the worst would be over in a month.

I don't think he meant technologically. Just reboot the government to version 1900 AD. At least that's how I interpreted.

Why would the country revert to 1900's technology?

Coal/nuke/hydro would still generate juice, Opec would welcome gold in exchange for oil..But no doubt consumption would dwindle without free-money..

An EMP scenario is possible with or without throwing out those who've bastardized the constitution and sucked the country dry..

Good idea, poor time frame.

1790 at the very latest. New Constitution, only this time I write it. Oh what a world it would be.

There are only three things I can think of off the top of me pointy.

1. a vast (90%) majority demanding it is very angry tones

2. open warfare and "we" actually win

3. a near-extinction level event

That about does it so far as I can see. 1 & 2 are about as likely as my dick shrinking to under 10 feet in length. 3, on the other hand... who knows...

I'm all for it, Tod. Reboot the government! Back "the Gilded Age" they called it, right?

Just don't resurrect Teddy Roosevelt as part of your process. Deal?
