Reason: Huckabee Knocks "Libertarian faux-cons" in his new Book

Well, this government was not to be communist...it was set up to be a republic. This is where we are going off track. We have a rule of law...the Constitution...but it's been in limbo for awhile. tones (this is a capitalist country)

who has that signature on the 4th 2nd and 1st amendments and giving them up? hows it go again?

If drugs were made legal...what do you think would happen? just curious. tones

I'd go light a joint in the front row of a church and blow smoke in children's faces , it would be total chaos.

I don't need to make paragraphs on this. The Pubs need to break away from the religious idiots as well as the neocons and that is really all that needs to be said.

Actually, yes. The religious following was traditionally democrats. Looks like the neo-cons gathered them: look at the party now

That is what i believe...heck you can't even smoke cigarettes in restaurants anymore. it would be complete chaos. tones

I know you don't believe in freedom (hehe I tease), but I do which is totally why my last post was sarcastic. Of my own free will, I would never do anything disrespectful in church. Even if I did, the church could "throw me out" in the most Godly polite way possible.

Yes, we have the rule of law. But the Constitution does not cover all aspects of life, Tones. It largely deals with the federal government and outlines what it can be involved in. Remember that everything not specifically mentioned in the Constitution was to be left to the states and to the people.

If a group of people wanted to live in a commune, that should be their right to do so, shouldn't it? As long as they aren't infringing on anyone else's liberty. That's kind of what the Branch Davidians were doing, right? I would imagine you disagreed with what happened to them. I hope, anyway.

You've painted yourself into a corner, Tones. Basically, you're saying that tyranny is just fine, as long as you get to decide what that tyranny will be like...making you no better then a full-blown Stalinist, for instance.

I understand that there are certain things that you frown upon, but you have to stop and think. Do I have the right to micro-manage other people's lives based on my own feelings of right and wrong? The answer to that is no, and the Founders understood that.

This whole drug thing is a non-issue for me, really. I detest drugs (tried marijuana once, BIG mistake), but I don't give a flying eff if others want to use them, because as long as they don't interfere with my life, it's none of my business.

As I've stated in a previous post, being Christian shouldn't have anything to do with imposing moral values on others. Salvation is a matter between you and Him. You can't force it upon others, and if you try to, I'm pretty sure He would disapprove in a big way...

Christians should never use government force to try and enforce morality. Enforced morality defeats the entire purpose of God laying down laws and giving us freedom of choice. He wants us to CHOOSE him. If he wanted us to be COMPELLED to choose the right decisions...he would just make us do it himself.

Well...it is a good question..how do we get back to a moral society..we used to have a moral society...we do not now. People have been brainwashed through the education system and the media...that things that were not considered "mainstream" are now mainstream. The demoralization of our country was a psychological agenda...and it has worked. please go research the hegelian dialectic, communism, communitarianism. Didn't yall watch that documentary someone posted here from G Edward Griffin interviewing that KGB propagandist who defected? he laid the whole agenda out for you. tones

You are answering your own question. If you realize that the education system is brainwashing the children, then the solution should be less government in our children's lives. Instilling moral values is a job for the parents, not government institutions. The child needs to have freedom to choose, and make moral decisions at a young age. This is done through teaching the child to think independently, and to teach self responsibility. America was a great country, the leader in innovation, with a great moral backbone, and work ethic, with much less government in our lives. It worked better then.

Huckabee's solution is for more government, not less. This is not opinion, but fact. Do you realize how much more the police state has grown in the last 50 years? What has been the result? Police should always be funded locally, it is not the federal governments responsibility. Why are you having a hard time understanding this? The Federal mandates on education is a complete disaster as well, for the same exact reasons as anything else they put their power hungry beauracratic hands on.

You realize that the federal government has an "agenda" to take control and responsibility away from the people leading to moral decay. So, why would you want to hand more power over to these people who will take more control away from the individual?

Huckabee is extremely leftist on many issues. I think he is O.k on some issues, like the 2nd amendment, but since he is so confused on the proper role of government I don't know if I could ever trust him during a crisis even with the 2nd amendment.

I know we've all seen this....

But I think Paul sums it up best when he says that a monolithic government can't take care of you, it can't MAKE you be a better person, it's a preposterous notion that has never worked, and never will.

Edit: I can't really believe this discussion is even happening here...

Another reason I'm still glad I made my videos against Huckabee...I can't believe so many people still like this man. Don't forget all of you HucksForums readers...Huckabee sold you out just like the rest of us when he endorsed McCain at the convention, Huckabee has no convictions that are true. Huckabee changes his positions just like Cher changes her clothes, and he is the pot calling the kettle black!

I showed you the evidence where Ron Paul said exactly the same thing. If you don't get it..maybe you just have not mentally developed enough. tones

No I did not. I guess I get insulting because people can't seem to see the more society "behaves themselves" the less big brother has to do the watchin. Simple concept. Be good...and you don't get the government's foot on your neck. How hard it that to comprehend? tones

So you still think the government should put its foot on my neck for smoking illegal substances then? Sorry fascist but if you still "don't get it" after everyone has explained this for you, I might as well put you on the ignore list.
