I've collected some internet member totals and come up with a 10-item list. For example, this Forum, as of 10:30 am pacific time today (June 15, 2007), has 1,152 Members, of which 1,070 are Active. All totals have been gathered between 10:00 am and 10:30 am today.

Here are the totals (largest number to smallest number):

1. Myspace: 31,382 Friends (official Ron Paul website)
2. Eventful: 19,681 Demands in 1,140 places
3. Youtube: 16,526 Subscribers (official Candidate Channel)
4. Facebook: 11,850 Members (student group, Congressman Ron Paul for President)
5. Meetup: 9,431 Members in 316 Groups, with 2,909 waiting for a Group
6. Facebook: 8,200 Members (official Ron Paul website)
7. Facebook: 6,707 Votes (Facebook Election Center)
8. Registry: 2,528 Supporters registered (the number is less since there are some gaps in the numbering, but it is an approximate number)
9. This Forum: 1,152 Members with 1,070 Active
10. Flickr: 120 Members

The numbers speak for themselves. I will comment on them in a subsequent post. But what do you think about these numbers, when taken as a whole?

Facebook is especially troublesome

While there is a wide variety of numbers in total, Facebook concerns me. The student group has 11,850 members, but the official group has only 8,200 even though it can be accessed directly from Ron Paul's campaign website.

What troubles me the most is that Ron Paul only has 6,707 votes at the Election Center. Yes, it is true that it places him high up on the list, but he is still behind Rudy Giuliani. If everyone that claims to support Ron Paul would vote for Ron Paul at the Election Center, Ron Paul would be ahead of Rudy Giuliani.

encouraging

i think these numbers are very encouraging. I would be very interested to see a comparison between Ron Paul's numbers, and other candidates. What I've seen so far speaks volumes.

And as always, there's definitely room to grow!

Oops

My tone might be a little negative. So I will rephrase the intent of this thread. The number of friends on Myspace is more than anywhere else. Perhaps Myspace is the place to invite Ron Paul Supporters. I would like to see everywhere have the same amount of members. I was not trying to say the numbers, in isolation, were bad. They are higher than most candidates already in most places.

What/where is the Election Center? link?

Are you sure you have the right meetup numbers? Or, more to the point, is the meetup member total including interested people, or just people signed up? I always thought it was the latter, but I may be mistaken.

I just checked on their site, and it appears that the member numbers does not include interested, which means that Ron Paul's meetup membership is at 12442.

Meetup Numbers

I think when meetup Member totals are cited, it is everyone signed up. As of this time, the total for Ron Paul is 12,763. Out of that number, 9,798 are currently in 319 Groups. The remaining 2,965 are waiting for a Group to start.
