Wouldn't it be a trip if it were announced that our RFTR tickets were valid entry tickets to the Rage Against The Machine concert going on at the same time? :D

You Rage fans are a trip! There's no way that these events would be connected. Rage doesn't give a shit about our ideals.

but your so right!!!!

They talk about the two party's being the same, they talk about prices being set at the pump.... they talk about government corruption leading to inequality.... gee, who else talks about those things

Actually, I truly believe that if RATM sat down with Ron Paul and talked they'd be converted. I think a lot of people are like this. They're just so wrapped up in MSM propoganda that they can't see anything else. It can be hard to break through but the seeds of liberty are in every American (or person).

I completely agree, i think you really hit the nail on the head here, and anybody who just blurts out "their socialists!!" are not informed and are not seeing the reality of the situation.

It's not so much a matter of being them brainwashed, but it's this whole categorization. It's like how anybody in South America who fought against right-wing dictators was considered a left-wing guerrilla. In reality, most of them are freedom fighters who just want to be left alone to live their lives. They want a sovereign nation where multi-national corporations can't just come in and take land and kick off the indigenous people who have been subsisting there for generations. That is just classical imperialism.

Anyways, RATM do not talk about welfare or anything. They talk about injustice. They talk about revolution. All you people labeling them as lefties need to seriously reconsider your views and be more considerate of those fighting injustice.

Karl Marx? These guys are communists, not liberty lovers.

No, they are revolutionaries who fight against injustice and genocide. They are for sovereignty of people of their lands.

YOU are the one labeling.

Yeah, but only because they don't know any better.

That's true for every communist, but is what they believe. These guys aren't stupid. They are harvard graduates. They're not going to go from communist to capitalist. It just isn't going to happen.

There is only one Harvard graduate in the band, that's their guitarist.

You don't know what the fuck you are talking about.

They aren't out there preaching about welfare, they are talking about injustice, genocide and inequality.

We are lucky because we understand where these things come from, and that is big government. Government furthers inequality. Just because they aren't able to see that, because the secret hand of big government is so easily able to affect smaller governments around the world, that isn't their fault. Do you get it? They are fighting for the same things that we are fighting for. RATM doesn't want everybody to be equal, they just want tyranny to stop.

Besides, they are Revolutionaries and so are we. We have a lot in common. I actually have a lot more in common with them than I do with you, and I believe in limited, small government. So stick that up your craw.

You have no idea what you are talking about. Take a look at the books on their recommended reading list in Evil Empire. I'll list some for you:

"Capital, Volume One"
Karl Marx
"The State and Revolution"
V.I. Lenin
"The Marx-Engels Reader"
Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels
"Marxism and the New Imperialism"
Alex Callinicos, John Rees, Chris Harman, Mike Haynes
"Guerilla Warfare"
Che Guevera

Yea, those are some liberty loving books.

LOL. Yea, I know the difference between communism and capitalism. Why don't you get back to you Karl Marx book.

Keep in mind Karl Marx wanted true communism where the state completely disappeared. This would only be achieved in a free society.

I love liberty enough to allow those who want to form communes to do so. In fact many religions throughout history have practices forms of communism, including the Mormons in Utah (back in the day).

Che was fighting right-wing dictators and imperialist forces. He was a liberty loving individual, even if we disagree on the role of government. The question is, do we disagree on the role of government? Do you really think that Che wanted the government to redistribute cash flows, or do you think he wanted the people he was fighting for to get their land back so they could live as they had been for generations? I am going to go with the latter, but that's just my opinion.

Either way, going to Harvard doesn't mean jack. I went to a UC school and came out fairly socialist, and I was a libertarian in High School. I still hold the same beliefs and know what I was taught about injustices around the globe relating to global hegemony, and I still agree with those things I was taught. I just don't agree that the solution is to give government more power, for they are the ones who are controlled by the moneyed interests and almost always end up having the opposite effect.

Once RATM learns this very easy to comprehend logic, I think they would join the fight against large government as well. The fact is we are this close: || in our beliefs, they are just missing a key, tiny piece of the puzzle. That doesn't make them bad people in my book, and I think you should consider the same. Don't discount them. If there is anything the Ron Paul movement taught me is that it doesn't take much to convince a socialist that big government is bad, as long as they are fairly educated and have somewhat of an open mind.

They aren't communists.

If I had the time, I would checkout their reading list. There is nothing wrong with reading other's point of views.

Didn't I just tell you that I believe in limited, small government?? Why are you insinuating that I am a commie?

What? This isn't a reading list for general knowledge. These are books that they recommend because they believe in them.

You said you have more in common with guys that push Marx on others than with me. I got the message. Your defense of Marx and Che in the post before confirms it.
