Rasmussen Texas Poll

I remember seeing a poll way back in the summer 2011 showing him in first place in Texas.

Face it, straw poll wins in the first few states are essential for momentum.

I really just can't imagine that our numbers are that low in Texas.

Agreed. I could see him at around 15%, but not much more sadly.

Ron is from 1 of Texas's 30+ districts.

He represents 640,000 people in a state of 23,000,000.

Texas is part deep south, part west. I think he should be doing a bit better, but you have to remember, he hasnt won a statewide election in TX.

Every poll I've ever seen from Texas had Ron in last. If this surprises anyone think about the demographics. It's neocon country.

The fact is Ron has to win a STATE or at least Puerto Rico, otherwise the percentages will keep dropping in every state as people think he's pretty much out at this point in the race. Yeah no surprise in Texas. It may be his "home" state, but there are plenty of other states that like Paul better than in Texas.

Get used to it here on out. Especially when he'll be in last place in Hawaii

Last in Hawaii?? Lol, srsly??

This is what happens when you give $30million+ to a bunch of minor league politicos. Pros should've been running this op from day 1. Ron knew the money would come rolling in and yet he surrounded himself with a bunch of leftovers from 2008. The only good moves they made was Doug Wead and jack hunter - 2 guys not involved in 2008. Go figure!

The campaign has come up short on some, but most of what has happened is beyond our control. We just need to keep focusing on delegates and hope for a brokered convention. Become a delegate no matter what people, even if they are the opposition.

In 2008 Paul did not even win his own Texas district in the presidential primary.

That was a UT/Texas Tribune poll. Their latest poll has

Santorum 45%
Gingrich 18%
Romney 16%
Paul 14%
Another Rep 6%

MOE +/- 5%

Texas is proportional so the main game there is to claim enough CDs to cut Willard out of (most) delegates. He's already not going to poll well there by demographic breakdown and if Paul edges him out of a little bit more it's mission accomplished. Granted I'd love to score more, but right now it's all about the numbers and the more Romney slips and continues to underperform the "expectations" fabricated by the media the better it's going to be :)

Texas is the same state that gave us LBJ, Bush, and Rick Perry. Is anyone really surprised by these numbers?

We had another thread about this. I know the people that have lived in Texas, like myself, aren't surprised. Remember when Ron Paul ran for US Senate? He received around 17% of the vote in the GOP Primary. He isn't popular in most of Texas and never has been. It's not that big a deal. TX is part of the South. We get why Paul's ideas aren't popular there.

The people running the campaign were from a nonprofit, nonpartisan, single-purpose citizens’ organization
