Rand should quit

Prefer you to go away. But, it's a free world do as you wilf.

Ok, I will keep the simple. The point of this post was to see what whould other fourm members respond to a post like http://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=217145.0. The title is "Rand should quit" is obviously clickbait, that you should have recongize.I expected that most fourm members whould retaliate against this suggestion but have not got the awnswer that I am looking for. I hope that Rand can run his campaign as long as he get to. Sorry for the confusion.

What I mean is that this is probably the worst time for a liberty candidate and that Rand has the least inspiring background compared to his father, Massie or Amash.

I actually think the time is fantastic for a liberty candidate to run. 2010 version of Rand Paul would be killing right now. Rand's problems all stem from his weird decision to run away from everything that has made him a success (and not just his liberty positions, even more damaging is that he's run away from all his popular Conservative positions too). There is still time though.

Mark Sanford would be the next best choice, but unfortunately he is probably an afterthought with his scandal. I doubt he could rehab enough to be a credible Presidential candidate. Maybe Mitch Daniels, though he is pretty outside the liberty movement sphere.

Would be great if Sanford jumped in. Somewhat ironic that him leaving his wife for a woman his own age is keeping him out while the GOP front runner is a guy who left his first wife for somebody young enough to be his daughter, then left his second wife for somebody young enough to be his granddaughter.

I hope that he hires a urban affairs advisor because it can help hammer out the reason why it is illegal for the government to seizes private property.

I have said it before and I will say it again: Canadians are not quite right.

There are only two things I can't stand in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures... and the Canadians.

No reason not to stay in. The field is very weak. Trump is the front-runner but an abrasive flip-flopper. Bush and Walker are next and very uninspiring. Paul could easily remain a contender while the field drops from 17 down to 5 candidates. Then run a good ground game in Iowa and NH and shock the world.

Are you sure?

Too early to quit. But would I not bet on Rand right now.

No offense, but this is most useless thread I've ever seen posted on RPFs. At least fire11 was funny! :D This seems to have a vibe that makes it more appropriate for the "Vent" than the Rand subforum, but that's jmho.

1. Rand has a much better chance than Ron had in '12 and '08 (let alone '88), which is to say he has a better chance than any libertarian has ever had.

2. Even if the current political climate in the country is not ideal for libertarians (say, because of ongoing ISIS hysteria), that's not a reason to quit. You don't quit just because you might not win (if you quit, you definitely won't win, obviously).

3. There's sno trade-off between seeking the POTUS nomination and protecting his senate seat; he can do both (at least until late in the cycle, by which point it'll be obvious whether he's getting the nomination or not, and can choose accordingly).

4. As for future plans, assuming Rand doesn't get the nomination; if a GOPer wins the White House in 2016, Rand should run for senate again in 2022, and then for POTUS again in 2024; of a Dem wins, Rand should plan to run again for POTUS in 2020.

5. Massie, Amash, etc are great and we need more like them, at all levels of government, but they have virtually zero name recognition; Rand is the only liberty candidate with any shot at POTUS, and will remain so for the foreseeable future.

Actually, in earlier posts you will see I was totally against Rand running this time around. He is young, has a large future ahead of him; and should have worried about slinging more and more bills into the faces of McConnell and Boehner to make a name for himself.

Quitting now looks like a quitter, but actually he should HAVE NEVER RUN to begin with.

About the quality of post I expecting when I saw that HB had posted here. Well done, internets. Well done.

If Rand is going to quit, he needs to quit NOW ... He must say there are more important things within his capacity in Congress, such as Planned Parenthood de funding, the Iran side deals, to name a couple, which are of utmost importance to he and the country. There is much in Washington right now, that impacts his constituents which requires his full attention. Obama executive order for climate change. As a result, Rand believes his expertise are better served in Congress at this time, when crucial votes will be needed to protect the nation.

If Rand quits, he must quit soon and give legitimate reasons for doing so. This nation is on the brink of disaster under this President, and no member of Congress should take his or eye off the ball at the present time. Just my view... he shouldn't have run to begin with; he should quit and use the above press statement in announcing it.

This benefits our cause how?

Rand is not ready !! His running depletes our cause. Instead of rolling his eyes at Chris Christie, he should have challenged him for lying as Christie said he hugged families of 9/11 victims. Christie was a private attorney, not a Federal attorney at 9/11. The only thing Chris Christie hugged on 9/11 was a bagel with extra cream cheese. Rand is very effective in Congress.. He needs to continue introducing legislation. He needs another four years of doing what he does well, with a great record to espouse when he enters the next debate forum.

How does him running prevent him from doing his work in the senate?

It seems to me like he's been just as active introducing bills, voting, and speaking since he announced his candidacy.

If anything, the higher profile from running gives him more influence in the senate.

I think that Rand would've been fine had he not been convinced that he had to come across as sounding so desperate in the debate. Going on the attack is fine, but you can't just get on the debate stage and start yelling. He didn't look Presidential at all, and you have to look Presidential when you run for President. Rand had 6 months to turn things around and didn't need to be so riled up in the debate. Ron came close to winning Iowa just by campaigning heavily there and getting his message out. Rand didn't need to have a huge moment in the debate to have a chance to reignite his campaign. He would've been far better off just being cool and confident in my opinion. Others may disagree, but most of the feedback of Rand's debate performance has been negative. I hope Rand really rethinks this and realizes that he just needs to be himself, and just be cool and confident next time. There's no need to act desperate and throw up a Hail Mary when there's still so much time left until the election. I don't know what's going on with him, but he was so much different in the debate than he was in the 2010 Senate debates against Conway and Grayson. He just dominated those debates and made Conway and Grayson look stupid. That Rand Paul needs to come back.
