Rand Paul Won Among Kentucky Presidential Donors.

For all the popularity of Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders and Ted Cruz in the 2016 presidential primary races, the biggest recipient of individual campaign money from Kentuckians last year was a home-state favorite — Rand Paul.

According to new figures posted Monday on the Federal Election Commission’s website, Kentucky residents have donated a total of $1.39 million to candidates for president through Dec. 31.

Paul, Kentucky’s junior U.S. senator from Bowling Green, received $350,304. Behind him in the Republican Party race for Kentucky donors were Ben Carson ($163,633), Ted Cruz ($114,690) and Marco Rubio ($80,805).

I would have to say that things are looking good for Rand in KY, some positive news today.

He dropped out way too early. He should've waited until Super Tuesday.

Something MUST have happened between the night of caucuses and today for him to suspend his campaign. He sounded like he was going on to NH and beyond.

Fucking blows.

Seemed like Carson was going to drop out soon so it would have been down to 4.

Trump is getting exposed for the liberal that he is and Cruz is Canadian, the lawsuits have already begun.

So it could have come down to the nothing Rubio and Rand...

But it looks like KY is firmly behind him so we shouldn't have to worry about losing him in the Senate.

May have been to do with his Senate seat, on top of all the other things.

You don't say....Rand has lot's of support in KY?! What a shocker. Tell that to the people here who says it was "honorable" for him to drop so he can protect his damn Senate seat. In FUCKING KENTUCKY!!! What a joke. We were promised a 50 state campaign, that why I gave him my money and time, and he drops after 1 state. WHAT A PUSSY. Ron has some balls, the message is what is important, even if he didn't win the POTUS horse race. Total scared coward move by Rand to drop, I am honestly depressed over this.

Can't wait to watch him endorse Rubio!!!! WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE Liberty, yea!!!

Yea this sucks, I thought he still had a good shot looking at the options atm. Trump and Cruz will never be nominated, Carson will drop. Watch it come down to Rubio and Jeb :(

THIS. If he wasn't such a coward we could have still won this thing. At least get our message out. This race is not like any other, there is no need for a fake media driven "winnowing of the field" after two useless states (actually one haha). Some one got to him. I want my Fucking money and time back. This is so sad.

Awaiting your run as a candidate in 2020. Keep us informed.

nice response. I have every right to be pissed. I am embarrassed, you know how many people I told that he would stay in the race deep and to be patient, that this race is not like the others, because Rand lead me to believe that. I'm not running for president asshole, I'm just and average guy who works his ass off and loves the message of Ron Paul. So yea, make your little comments, I was invested in this personally. Let me vent.

I read somewhere in the comment section of Dutch media that Rand has transferred funds from his presidential campaign to his senate campaign. [which was mentioned as being illegal and would be a story in the future according to the poster]

I was mostly wondering how a bunch of people here suddenly had strong opinions on the US elections. It's probably something that person pulled out of their ass. But it almost felt like a tentacle of TPTB infecting media all the way over here.

Yeah, the plan was to stay in longer because I agree that others will start falling soon. And as we can see from these donation numbers Rand is safe in Kentucky so he doesn't have to worry about his Senate seat.

The only thing that happened that would have affected that plan is the bogus debate criteria.

They were lobbying to have Rand included based on his 5th place finish. The past debates included the top 6 using polls in Iowa... but when actual votes are counted they decide to limit it to 3.

Anyone not included in the debate in NH is going to have a hard time getting votes in NH a couple days later.

If they hadn't changed the debate criteria again to exclude Rand I'm very confident he would have continued on.

I thought he was going all the way to the convention too. I was in touch with the campaign just last week about helping to get his name on the PA Ballot in April.

Whatever the deal was, Rand took it because it is best for liberty. I fully trust him without knowing the reasons.

Maybe Mitch made a deal with him that he could have senate majority leader or something.

Idk about your 2nd statement but the first hit home. Rand had no other option after his dismal showing in IA, the surprise factor that he was presenting never occurred. Game over. The flip side is that we keep shelling out hundreds of dollars for a bust when Trump and Sanders already ate up his dad's support. Outwards, don't blame Rand as he would've gone long if he wasn't crouched out in this mess. The media and Rubio, Cruz being the bitch he is and Sanders sucking the air out of the younger folks: not much left for us. And, Trump wasn't going anywhere but up or maintaining. Sorry but Rand did the right thing.

I believe this is one of the main reasons he dropped out. No debate would hurt him further in NH and would not allow him to get his message out. It was a strategic retreat.

lol as if some Dutch writer knew anything about FEC regulations over the people who deal with this stuff everyday.

And I believe he was polling pretty low. 2%. And as we saw from Iowa, the polls were pretty close. In retrospect I think Rand made the right choice.
