Rand Paul under fire from black leaders for slavery remarks

OK here's another approach.

Rand could choose to offer the comment: "I deplore all forms of slavery."

Rand's point was perfectly valid, and it wasn't really even an "analogy" so much as a logical exposition. A legally-enforceable "right" to private individuals' services would imply as a logical conclusion the validity of compulsion, of forcing those individuals to serve you/whomever you want them to serve, which would, by definition, be slavery. He was clearly not saying what you've just attributed to him

I agree that it's not what he intended but it did come out that way. Fact is elected politicians do have to be careful with what they say - and he shouldn't have said this.

thank you Rand. Keep explaining why they are the racists.

Liberty is the same to every color, creed, ect..

True liberty can only exist like the classical liberals understood. That is with maximum private property rights.

Perhaps. Since Rand has already been at the center of so much racially-based media hyperventilation, any charged statement like this is liable to invite further histrionics and increase the negative impression much of the public has of him; on the other hand, I do positively hate the idea of giving ground and muzzling oneself for the sake of appeasing a gang of professional race-victims like these guys, and doing so would encourage them by demonstrating that their tactics are effective.
