Rand Paul Townhall Livestream, 9PM EST

^Another yes man with his head in the sand.

No one will tell the campaign how it is and this is what we end up getting. People are donating money and expect better from a top tier campaign. There was no excuse for this other than they are trying to save money and this is not something you skimp on. It makes it look like they are milking donations for an educational campaign rather than to win.

Someone said their web guy was overseas. Why the hell is he overseas at crunch time like this. Missing the undercard exposure and then doing childish Periscope, that is supposed to be okay??? Missing the undercard was fine if you are going to pull off something big on youtube NOT some kiddie Periscope crap.

I think kahless is very often off base. If I remember correctly isn't he one of the resident trump sympathisers?
However tonight he is posting everything that I wanted to say but held back because I don't think it helps the cause to be a downer.

That said- those of you who are being very enthusiastic about tonight are certainly improving my moral, thank you for that.

Tonight was a bummer because I've spent the entire time since Fox excluded him looking forward to tonight.
I kept talking and thinking about it at work and didn't expect to get to see it because of plans tonight but then was able to and felt so disheartened as I chased links all over the web to find this poorly put together event.

I didn't get to see much of it. I'm sure the substance was good. I just wish that it wasn't such a technical disaster ... I REALLY want to see them do a redo and go all out. I'm not being funny and saying lasers, I mean a really slick, easy to access, online event. Maybe have political bloggers from all over the internet invited to directly participate beyond Twitter somehow.

Maybe he should challenge Trump to a one on one debate or something.

Stop being the party pooper and jump on RandWagon. I am starting to think the poor quality of the video worked to Rand's advantage. Broadcasting from a basement here is Senator Rand Paul. Nobody can match this man on substance. :D

Cavuto was one of the moderators? Dangit, he actually has been decent to the Pauls.

Oh well. This little periscope townhall just goes to show we don't need no stinking MSM.

I provide a more technical opinion of the different campaigns rather than angrily shouting falsehoods in a room. There is plenty to attack Trump on which I agree Trump should be attacked on but I am not going discredit myself or Paul supporters by using false talking points directly from the DNC to attack him. If that means I am off base then so be it.

Maybe he should challenge Trump to a one on one debate or something.

It would not make sense for Trump to do that considering their poll numbers.

Posting links and watching it like a TV program is not really how this platform is intended to be used. Most in this thread includeng myself were sorta improvising, but we are already Rand supporters, he doesn't need to go out of his way to attract our support. The audience he was aiming for is younger and more into this format. Remember he is also going after the people who were not watching the debate.

I think it was a poorly calculated strategy if they wanted critical mass audience but if they were going for the youth vote (this is his key target demo in IA/NH) then maybe they got pretty much what they wanted.

You just have to be able to see it from different points of view.

Honestly speaking, they lost my viewership because I had no idea what was going on but then again I don't use periscope.

Food for thought~~~

We're all tired of your shit. Just leave dumbass. I'm not even slightly embarrassed. Rand got great coverage from this and was trending on twitter as well as getting the second most followers behind your beloved Trump.

He's only saying what many of the people posting in this thread said. Read through it.

I understand commenting that it wasn't a slick HD production. I'm guessing they used Periscope because they were at the Twitter HQ, and Twitter owns Periscope.

I don't think it was too hard to find though. You didn't need to follow each new link... they were all at http://Periscope.tv/DrRandPaul

And on Facebook I got a notification on my phone that "Rand Paul is Live". Clicked that and it brought the stream up.

I understand that out of everyone some people would have trouble and either couldn't watch or didn't like it... but if it really were such a failure how was he able to gain the second most Twitter followers and be the only candidate trending throughout the main debate?

No, he didn't. The point was that you should be watching your man on the big stage instead of worrying about what some other candidate does.

Why be such an ass? Because you don't like the fact that he took issue with using Periscope, just like the majority of people in this thread?

No, he didn't. The point was that you should be watching your man on the big stage instead of worrying about what some other candidate does.

The video he posted was one of Trump's live Youtube feeds. He has done so many of these that it seems like you can turn on Youtube TV or go to the Youtube website to very easily view them live any night of the week. Yet the most important day of the entire race so far for Rand and he did not deliver just this one time.

You might be right, maybe I should be watching another candidate if Rand is only sticking around for donations for an educational campaign and for his Senate seat.
Like I said, someone else said his web guy was overseas. If true why the hell is he overseas on the most important day of the campaign?

It is not just that it was Periscope, it was that it was fuzzy, the audio was poor and it lacked professionalism, like kids were running the show. Rand did not even seem energized or like he even wanted to be there. With all of Rand's contacts he could not have a media personality help out? No doubt there are TV and radio stations that would have killed to be able to host something like this.

What was the point of missing the undercard debate then if this was the route that was being taken? It just calls some things into question not to mention it is embarrassing telling people about this which with the difficultly level and lack of professionalism a huge turn off.

Is there any way to watch the entire thing? Facebook only has 20 minutes of it available.

Rand got a lot of good publicity (with all the interviews he got over the past few days) out of this. Wish he had put up the cash for a TV buy (or failing that, paid for the full YouTube live feed, or even went to Austin and joined the Infowars debate commentary panel).
