Rand Paul on The Mark Levin Show 1/27

So, listened to it now.

Rand killed. Super-articulate, not a single verbal fumble, hitting Trump in devastating (issues-based) fashion, promoting himself very effectively as the only fiscal conservative, nailing Cruz and Rubio (and GOP leadership in general) on their unholy alliance with the Dems on spending, lays out his philosophy on compromise (same as Ron's coalitions concept, as contrasted with the unholy alliance type of compromise), endearing story about how he got over his fear of public speaking, explains how we don't need generalized warrants to fight terrorism, he's the candidate of the youth because he defends the 4th amendment, he's going to shock people in Iowa.

If he sounds like this tomorrow night, it's going to be a monstrous Raaaaandsliiiiiiiiide.

...O, and fuck you Levin.

This is a good one. Rand talks about media bias, how (or how not to) get shit done in DC, debate strategy.

That interview was more than fair. Levin sounded like he was about to endorse him on air.

Levin even referred to he and Paul as "us"--in regards to being called out for being "purist conservative/libertarians" by other people.

Levin did better than usual as an interviewer tonight, but I'm not totally sold on him being 100% fair to Rand Paul as a candidate. Beck and Levin are both in the Cruz camp and I would actually predict them tilting towards Rubio if Cruz were to implode rather than Paul. Nevertheless, when Rand is actually being interviewed, Levin didn't act like a total jackass, which I suppose counts for something. Then again, certain MSNBC hosts that I can't stand and know for a fact to be the enemy have also been fairly civil to Rand during interviews.

Where has this spin developed, I read it over at Hotair also, that Rand is on the stage because Trump dropped out and made a space...like they don't know he was already in the debate...is this purposeful or just ignorance?

Purposefully invented by someone who dislikes Rand, gobbled up by the rest because they're ignorant.

Levin seemed subdued to me, albeit civil and fair.

He let Rand speak, but he didn't do him any favors beyond that.

Rand made the most of the situation though, and he's really become the interview ninja.

Here is an image to refute that:

Interview was good, but on a subsequent call around 1:51 Mark did have to chime in that he disagrees completely with Rand on defense. I guess Mark is a phony fiscal conservative just like Rubio.

Better to disagree w/ Rand early than when he's on the show and he pretty much gave Rand carte blanche on his message. Levin got called a moron by Savage earlier today because of his offering of the Cruz v Trump thing he was offering on his show in the future. You had to have heard how stupid Savage made Levin look overall.

Furthermore, Levin agreed with Rand over the ethanol mandate v Cruz in the 1:38 spot. Which is big considering in the next breath Rand owned that he is the only fiscal in the race over Cruz while owning Trump in the interim

Don't get me wrong, the interview was certainly better than nothing, he was very fair and respectful during the interview itself, I just wish he wouldn't try to bash him afterwards on the very next call.

I still wish Rand would reframe his "reduce military spending" line as "eliminate waste in the Pentagon" or "refocus military spending focusing on defense and not offense" and discuss removing inefficient/redundant programs etc. His making it sound like he wants to just reduce spending in general without offering more substance can make him seem weak on defense. It's harder to argue against eliminating waste and making things more efficient.
