Rand Paul on CNN speaking truth about Trump...

Trump was asked about Rand the other day, and Trump was gentle and agreed with Rand not to sit at the kid table because he was due more respect then that. So why does Rand come out slugging at Trump on CNN today, when he should have been going after Reince Prevous and Butthead, head of the GOP instead? Rand is picking the wrong f'king adversaries.

And a couple days before that (and probably many times before and after) Trump was mocking Rand for threatening to sit out during one of his rallies. So no, he isn't an ally to Rand, he's probably hoping he can pick up some Rand/Ron supporters.

Rand has a vision of what the party should be. It is essentially the same as his father's (big tent, inclusive), and it is what the party said they needed to do (after the 2012 postmortem) to win this time around. He speaks out against Trump, because Trump is moving people in the opposite direction of that vision. Rand speaks out against party leadership, because they also are moving people away from that vision.

OK. But is that supposed to help Rand get the Republican nomination for president? It strikes me that it will have the opposite effect. Rand should be saying that America needs a party that stands for smaller government and greater freedom, and that the only use it has for the Republican party is if it will be that party. He should be criticizing Trump for being the exact opposite of that, which he unquestionably is.

Uh, Rand has been doing all of this, have you been paying attention? You literally can not say all of this stuff in a singular interview, and your ignorance of him doing this is actually a testament to how media disinformation can poison Rand's own team against him. What would you prefer him do? Blurt out "The GOP sucks, and by logical deduction I suck for being in it, let's smoke a big blunt and hooray Libertarianism" and drone on about the Bush family being a bunch of inbred descendants of King George III?

Seriously, there's no pleasing you, and I think Rand would do well to not even try.

Good. Then he needs to hammer on it, and not take a step backward for every step forward.

And I should be able to get this in a single interview. Rand should keep repeating it over and over in every interview and have a voice and a brand that people recognize, not portray himself as occupying the right one day and the center the next. All the people supporting Cruz and a good chunk of the people supporting Trump should be supporting Rand, and should be the people he depends on for the nomination. He'll never win the nomination as the champion of the party loyalists. He has to win it as the anti-establishment guy taking on the establishment from its right flank.
