Rand Paul, Lindsey Graham Have 'Crazy Bastard' Fight

Preach it, Rand!

And notice how Graham invokes not only the ridiculously vapid "Crazy Bastard" standard, but also the morally vacuous "Most People Believe" standard.

Sen. Paul Declares Victory for Americans’ Right to Trial by Jury

WASHINGTON, D.C. – This evening, the U.S. Senate voted on Amendment No. 3018 to the National Defense Authorization Act sponsored by Sens. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) and Mike Lee (R-Utah), and co-sponsored by Sen. Rand Paul, which protects the rights prescribed to Americans in the Sixth Amendment of the Constitution with regard to indefinite detention and the right to a trial by jury.

The amendment passed, 67-29.

Make no mistake. THIS is where the battle lies.

All of you folks who are having problems with Rand, please look at the big picture.

The Republican party is up for grabs. It can go to Lindsey Graham and John McCain, or we can take it. Graham knows he's going to be challenged by Davis. He feels him breathing down his neck. It's why McCain and Graham are all over Benghazi missing the real point of that debacle. They are trying to hang onto to the party. And we are winning! Statements and show-downs like this demonstrate why we need Rand Paul. We ARE taking the party. Yes, it may be a little ugly at times, but I'm finding more excitement than I am trepidation.

Are there any preliminary polls on Graham's standing in the Palmetto State? Is he hanging by a thread there?

lol. I giggled everytime Rand says "Crazy Bastard". Go get him tiger.

I also hope we can support Davis and get him to replace Graham. I hope Rand and Ron will be there to support Davis.

this was taken more than 2 years ago. His numbers have probably worsened, especially in light of his recent behavior:

http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/...in-trouble-with-south-carolina-gop-voters.php

The poll of this year’s likely GOP primary voters found Graham’s approval rating at only 40%, with 45% disapproval, and 53% also saying that he is too liberal. Respondents were asked this question: “The next time Lindsey Graham is up for reelection will you support him, or would you support a more conservative alternative?” The answer was only 32% supporting Graham, to 57% who would support a more conservative candidate.

<---is moving ever closer to Occum's Banana-esque support of Rand Paul...

I'm still smarting from the Romney endorsement. (I GET IT, I GET WHY HE DID IT; IT TURNED OUT TO BE A WISE MOVE) For me, the needle is moving, and quickly. For utterly epic levels of win, Paul and Kucinich, and a new coalition party - check our history, it's been done before. Maybe not in the Executive, but it worked for La Guardia...a coalition party was what it took to bring down Tammany Hall...coalition parties are good for breaking down entrenched power bases...

I'm going to watch that 2 min Rand vid again. What a pleasure.

All due respect, sir or madam, I believe 2012 proved that the GOP is broken beyond repair. If that bastard Rush was right about anything during the run up to the election, it was his assertion in late '11 that Obama was "landslide-ably beatable." And, Obama was. The GOP voter will always choose party over principle, and if the argument is, "Fine, let's force the die-hard GOP voter to choose Rand in 2016," it fractures on one critical point.

The GOP will not nominate Rand Paul.

Try as we might, we cannot infiltrate, coerce, commandeer, or cajole the Republican party into supporting the ideas of liberty. They are about power, growth of government, and war. Just like the Democrats. I'd rather both parties face defeat at the hands of Rand...I believe a case could be made for thinking that even the die-hard GOP voter, in 2016, faced with another ridiculous choice (such as Hillary or Gore vs. Romney II or its equivalent), would vote for a coalition party of Rand and Kucinich, or Rand and Davis.

I know I offer some radical ideas in this reply. Be gentle, please. These are times for radical ideas. Think of it: Obama is the arch Democrat, so far left that new graduations need be marked on the gauge. He was nominated by the DNC with a little bit of fear - would America stomach this much of "the Agenda" in one sitting? It's time to nominate like for like, to match fire with fire. We need to offer, in 2016, the polar opposite of Obama. This could be Rand, this could be Davis, this could be someone we don't even know yet. I'm talking sea-change levels of opposite; zero compromise.

I'm quite disappointed with Rand voting against trialing Gitmo detainees in the US, but I guess it makes sense from a fiscally conservative perspective due to the cost involved in bringing them here. That being said, it's great he's standing up to Graham.

LOL...the "crazy bastard standard"... I know it's serious, but Rand makes me laugh when he goes off like this.

Unlike his vote in favor of sanctions on Iran, I think he voted the right way on the Gitmo issue. Let's be clear that Rand does not support indefinite detention for anyone captured by our government, regardless of whether they're U.S citizens or foreigners. However, the Constitution doesn't mandate that we try foreign enemies in civilian courts. We didn't try the Nazis in civilian courts after WWII. It's entirely appropriate to try the prisoners at Gitmo in military tribunals. They will get justice that way. Rand believes that Gitmo should ultimately be closed down after all of the military tribunals have taken place.

Graham is once again on the sunday shows this week, for 4th straight week. what on earth do they see in him and why do the GOP keep putting him forward as a spokesman?

As a bastard myself, I support equal rights for crazy bastards! Love Rand's speech. :)
