Rand Paul, Lindsey Graham Have 'Crazy Bastard' Fight

Rand is way more feisty than his father and this will make for epic future debates when the mods or other candidates try to throw him under the bus and he comes back with some dynOmite.

the last known public poll on Graham was conducted by PPP in 2011, his favorables with conservatives was around 50% compared to 80% to DeMint so there is something to work with for a viable conservative candidate to unseat him. It would take a lot of money and grassroots support.

here's another poll on Graham, his favorables are even worse in this from feb 2011.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), who has both bad-mouthed and praised the Tea Party movement in the past, isn’t up for re-election until 2014. But when that comes, a new survey from Public Policy Polling (D) finds that Graham could be quite vulnerable in his Republican primary — against Congressman Joe “You Lie” Wilson!

The poll finds that only 42% of the state’s Republican primary voters approve of Graham’s performance, with 40% disapproving. And in a hypothetical primary against Wilson, who famously shouted out “You lie!” during a speech on health care by President Obama to Congress, it doesn’t look good for Graham: Wilson gets 43% of the votes, and Graham gets 41%. The margin of error ±4.1%

“Lindsey Graham should thank God his next race is not until 2014,” writes PPP president Dean Debnam. “He’d be in good shape in November, but at this rate, he’d be lucky to survive that far.”

On the other hand, Graham does lead former Gov. Mark Sanford by a margin of 52%-34%. Unfortunately for Sanford, while he might have a lot of experience campaigning in Buenos Aires and on the Appalachian Trail, those voters likely aren’t eligible to participate in South Carolina elections.

I imagine Tom Davis would start out at a little better than Sanford but would steadily climb with momentum and campaigning thus giving him a real shot to pull it off ...

Unlike his vote in favor of sanctions on Iran, I think he voted the right way on the Gitmo issue. Let's be clear that Rand does not support indefinite detention for anyone captured by our government, regardless of whether they're U.S citizens or foreigners. However, the Constitution doesn't mandate that we try foreign enemies in civilian courts. We didn't try the Nazis in civilian courts after WWII. It's entirely appropriate to try the prisoners at Gitmo in military tribunals. They will get justice that way. Rand believes that Gitmo should ultimately be closed down after all of the military tribunals have taken place.

I doubt you can get a fair civilian jury trial with all the biased for suspected al qaida/taliban members.

Rand Paul is one smart guy! Everything he does is strategic. He's almost single-handedly taking ownership of the republican party.

Lindsey Graham will be coming up on Greta sometime during tonight's show to talk about 'crazy bastards'

See, it's comments and the amount of support like that, in addition to Graham's visibility already, that make me wonder whether Tom Davis has a realistic (not optimistic) chance of dethroning Lindsey Graham come 2014.

Exactly. The comments there made me sick. I just said "Graham has to go". I'm sure that will go well.
It's a long road yet, uphill, getting the message across to the masses.

I like that video. Thanks.

LG will have support in SC in 2014. SC is a large MIC State. If you look at the states economy during the last two years you will see better than most "growth". We have had a huge influx of DOD contractors in the form of advancing SPAWAR and the like. LG will have full support from those entrenched with this all the way down to the Admin. Assistant. We all know the amount of $$$ in this industry. It makes me sick that some could stomach that for employment but a conversation for another day.

On the other hand, there is one way that could be a recipe for success in ousting LG. SC primaries are open and thus any citizen regardless of party affiliation can vote in either Rep or Dem primaries. You cannot vote in both. That being said, most reasonable people realize that a US Senatorial seat from SC will be clad in red.

The ultimate question is can we get SC State citizens to participate in a GOP primary even if they are not GOP? I don't say that is necessary, but it couldn't hurt.

Interestingly and tastelessly, there were many that claimed that the GOP went out to vote against the strongest contender to Demint in the Democratic primary a couple of years ago. Remember Alvin Green?

ole ben franklin made a famous comment on this!

kynge john reluctantly signed the magna carta...

rand's remark is in good company as the 800 year

mark of the signing of the magna carta looms large.
