Rand Paul knocks it out of the park in todays debate.

BamaFanNKy,

Don't you consider Goldwater the first of the New Right coalition? Goldwater supported Eisenhower over Taft.

Hmmm no articles on the net up about it so far.

PADUCAH, Ky. (AP) - A GOP rival has continued taking potshots at Bowling Green eye surgeon Rand Paul in the U.S. Senate race, accusing him of taking the "Potomac two-step" on the abortion issue.

Secretary of State Trey Grayson questioned Saturday whether Paul really is opposed to abortion. Paul accused Grayson of lying about his positions, adding that he would support any legislation to stop abortion.

The attacks may have sent a strong signal to a crowd of more than 200 at a Paducah high school that Paul, who few people had heard of a year ago, has become the Republican to beat in Kentucky's Senate race.

University of Louisville political scientist Laurie Rhodebeck says the escalating verbal attacks in recent weeks leaves little doubt that Paul is the front-runner.

Who cares about Fallwell.

Taft opposed FDR and entry into the war. Eisenhower continued the FDR era. The religious stuff is just side show issues.

Goldwater marked the beginning of the "New Right" whereas Paul is a throwback to the "Old Right."

True and Goldwater called Eisenhower out on it. I think Eisenhower fooled him. Goldwater and Ron Paul are very close in views.

Brandon, I'm a big decriminalization advocate and a states' rights guy, and I'm on board with Rand

Don't abandon him over something like this, and if you are gonna support him, please remember that we need to put on a good face for Rand

You called him a "clown." Do you want him banned also?

Nice.

I don't want anyone banned

And I didn't call HIM a clown

I asked the other poster if this was A clown that is trying to torpedo Rand's campaign
I encountered several clowns during Ron's campaign who were so self-absorbed that they would torpedo his campaign just to spread their conspiracy theories, racism, etc.

Johnson did real well I think. He is a much more serious factor in this race now than before. I don't think he'll win, partly because of his poor fundraising, but he is now more likely to be a threat.

No, I didn't like what he said, but he came off as much better than Grayson and about as good as Paul. He'll definitely be an alternative for everyone who wants to protest against the establishment but still are a bit scared of the "libertarian" paul (I know he's not a libertarian, but that label is hard to wash away). And that's not an insignificant part of the primary voters.

I don't think Johnson's performance was anywhere near to Rand's. He sounded like a theocrat, a Jesus freak, even for KY standards.

John G- I hope thats not true what you said about Johnson. However, I still dont believe it will be. Most people are very inactive voters, which means they probably didnt even watch the debate. However, Ron Paul basically smoked ALL of the primary candidates, yet he didnt even get more than 4% of the vote! Ron Paul also was the crowd favorite at the debates, yet again, it didnt even phase him.

I live in Washington and we elected the WORST governor in state history AGAIN just because she is a democrat! However, Dino Rossi, the Republican SMOKED her in the debates, CLEARLY, yet he still couldnt win because of the liberal state I was in. Its funny though, even being politically active, I never saw the debate fully. I only watched highlights. Most people dont really watch debates unless they are presidential. I think they vote more based on campaigning and commercials. Thats my opinion, I cannot prove it. Thats my two cents.

Well, I hope I'm wrong. But his position on the floor was ideal too - right in the middle between Paul and Grayson. The two of them were just attacking each other, and he had quite a calm day were he could simply lay out his message. That is not a bad thing - Ask Debra Medina.

Problem is-- he made attacks at RP too. And both attacks from Trey & Paul were legit criticisms. KBH & Perry were playing "he said, she said" games.

I think BJ will gain support but also may turn off some of the more moderate followers who are pro-choice, they might go to Trey instead.

I Live In Kentucky (I've met and Interviewed Rand for a campus news show) I called the local T.V. news and they said they would have some coverage at 10pm tonight. I can't rip a youtube though, sorry, but I'll describe How they cover the debate if no one gets a youtube from WPSD.http://www.wpsdlocal6.com/

I called the News Station again, they said they would post their coverage, but not full debate. Which is understandable since it wasn't broadcast and the whole thing might not even have been recorded by them. I've dealt with them before, and they are nice people and have covered favorably in the past. I'm hoping they will put a poll up on their website in the future!!
