Rand Paul Debate Video

This isn't about the debate, but I did have an interesting observation yesterday. To make a long story short, I drove from Louisville to Cincinatti and then down towards Lexigton and back to Louisville. Most of this trip was on highway, but a good portion of it was on country roads too.

What I observed were many Rand yard signs and bumper stickers. This is not an exagerration. I did not see one yard sign or bumper sticker for Conway. I was on the road for a total of 5 hours. I thought that was pretty interesting.

That is interesting, thanks.

I hope the union people knocking on doors and lying about Rand's position on social security don't change that.

Thanks for posting this so quickly! I missed it this morning.

Rand came off very well, and Jack came off as an flip-flopper.

The only thing is that near the end Jack threw out about six untrue charges about Rand, that he wants to get rid of ADA etc etc etc, knowing Rand wouldn't have a chance to address all of them, and Rand didn't take the bait but reframed his own statement of the issue, which is fine, but at some point he needs to address them. Maybe on his web page? Then next time he can just refer people to his web page for his true position on the issues...

I've been screaming this for months!

He should do the same for all the smears. Have a page (like Grayson did at the very end) to clarify the smears.

If someone hears Jack smearing Rand on the ADA, the only information they can find is Jack's smears, how does that help get Rand elected?

Well, you are right. I hope now that Rand hit it in a debate, the campaign will at least raise the idea to his attention. He might have liked to have such a tool handy today, to use without derailing the conversation from where he wanted it to go.

And THREE different smears Jack uses against Rand actually have campaign watch dog findings against them.

lol @ that even proud democrats do not claim to be to the left of Obama (see 2nd video @ 8:46)

also,
jack conway's under his breath giggle is creepy. rand's accent still annoys me.

Rand is fucking awesome!

At 5:25 CONway looks like he wants to vomit. LOL!

CONway is such a scumbag.

Jack is "gonna stand up" for Kentuckians.

That has got to be the dumbest, most overused line in politics. And you can always tell a slimy politician by the "personal" stories they tell of how their intervention has "helped" people.

How sickening. Jack needs to read the first couple paragraphs of Economics In One Lesson. YOU HAVE TO LOOK AT THE LONG-TERM IMPACT OF YOUR POLICIES, NOT JUST THE SHORT TERM IDIOT!

Rand won that shit! Now he just has to keep it up and do well in the upcoming ones as well. I'm assuming the next couple ones won't be as friendly, but Rand will do well I'm sure.

Agreed, just watched it. Rand was definitely the winner in this so-called debate :D

So-called, because it was as others said just sound bites, but yeah he won.

we the people...

in his long and illustrious career, henry clay had sat in both jim bunning's and
mitch mcconnell's senate seats. jim bunning had won HIS seat from wendell ford.
i feel that if jack conway does not win this current race, in time he will run an
intense race against mitch mcconnell. over time i expect that daniel mongiardo will
run for governor, jim demint may become minority leader ...and mitch mcconnell
will come VERY close to being a legendary majority leader if he does not go the
total distance. william (kentucky bill) johnson is more than toying with running
for secretary of state as a very term limited trey grayson may run for the A.G
position. even if the NEW meth labs are much smaller, their increase is being
driven by our hard times. clearly jack conway an' rand paul are in a stark contrast
on many of the issues of the day. i am in shock because it seems to me that
young chris wallace may have moderated this debate as well as his father mike
might have, were he three or four decades younger! i say this as a compliament
to a guy who i thought got his tv studio job only jist becuz of WHO his father was...

It's clear by now that Rand doesn't like ADA and doesn't even want to pretend otherwise.

I like the fact that Rand was a lot more straight forward in this debate. That's how he needs to be all the time rather than than trying to be on both sides of an issue. His response to the drug question was a lot better this time. He at least made it clear that drug enforcement should be more of a local issue.

Jack pulling the ol' "mothers crying on my shoulder" emotional card straight from the Al Gore playbook. Seriously, people see through this bullshit, right?
