Rand Paul Campaign Sends Cease-And-Desist To Stations Running Iran Attack Ad

Rand should do a press conference, show the WHOLE add with him picture in picture with it. And then just say basically what that letter said. Make the statement that these adds which twist the truth cannot be aloud to shape the conversation, that a sound byte can never be an answer for a complex policy that needs serious answers. Rand, get up on stage and put your face next to it and say "I'm Rand Paul and I denounce this message"

That's damn good. Send it to Rand's team.

well I have no connections to the campaign, but yes. This is his time to set the tone for attack ads, first hit of the year, drastically early, ridiculously over funded.... golden opportunity to say "Own attack ads". Honestly I am just glad its so terribly out of context, if it was one where all your responses are "Well,,,, technically" everyone thinks you did what it said. This one... "Its a lie and here is why". Not every candidate has the luxury of such a denouncable softball of an add. But he handles this right, they'll be scared to throw another.

I agree. In fact do the presser from the courthouse steps. Have the lawyers present that filed the cease and desist. Declare that he is not going to let any attack ads slander his positions without due process being involved. He wouldn't even have to spend a lot of money taking it to court. He could drop the case after the election. But he could make a big deal and get air time over it during the primary process.

Bbwarfield, are you familiar with the writings of your namesake?

I like the idea, and I would not be surprised to see Randal do something very similar. It is basically how he handled some of the most shameful stuff they pulled on him in the Senate race. Recall when he went on and accused Conway of bearing false witness?

I would just point at the ads and say they are an example of a product of the "Washington Machine."

This would help expose what we are fighting.

I would try not to have lawyers on stage with him, cause I really gut checked, knee jerk reaction to lawyers speaking while the person they are defending is on the stage is "there guilty" ... trust me... I know that it has no bearing one way or another, but thats what my non-critical thinking reaction is to someone with a bunch of lawyers talking for them, I believe the person the lawyers are pulling away from the microphone though

No. I didn't mean that the liaryers should speak. Just that he would look over his shoulders and refer to them. "Today I instructed my legal representatives to file suit for slander...etc." Never let a liaryer do your speaking for you. Make them your subservient. Something Romney wasn't willing to do. Lol. :p
