Rand Paul Campaign Sends Cease-And-Desist To Stations Running Iran Attack Ad

We are trying to build a warchest for next year, not spend one now.

But what if they blow you up on the tarmac before you can even take off? That is entirely their strategy. They know Rand has a limited window to build momentum and they have near limitless resources at their disposal, including a massive news network.

These ads were nothing more than a psy-op designed to deflate Rand camp morale. Ignore them, they don't matter.

Talk it up. Not only is he putting his lawyers where his mouth is in regard to libel (and there will be one hell of a lot of that in the next year and a half) but he's exposing how public opinion is bought and sold in this nation today.

So tell all the 'give up on politics and educate people' trolls that this campaign is educational, too.

Well I wonder -- and hopefully one of the lawyers on the site will speak up -- but could the lawsuit be an effort to unveil the donors? Is that a possibility at all?

Ron Paul just finished a war over the IRS trying to get C4L to disclose their donors, why would we want the government to disclose the donors of nonprofits even if they're our enemy?

Why waste money on ads when a cheap legal letter can deter an entire network from showing a certain ad?

Agreed. I think they actually help us with the constituency which matters right now - namely, politically engaged grassroots conservatives.

Everybody knows who's behind this (the Bush/McLindsey wing), and everybody whose support we're courting right now hates those people like grim death.

This is the equivalent of Hillary attacking Rand.

I think it's a win - same with the "Rand's mean to female reporters," "Rand's hostile to the MSM" nonsense. That ain't gonna hurt us among tea party types..

I think these ads are going to help Rand. Many Ron supporters are seeing them and realizing they need to join up with Rand.

Yea, that too. The "Oh look Rand's a neocon, muh roads! muh roads!" - branch of the movement is looking sillier than usual right now.

I don't think they are really a big deal. Very few people, yes even GOP primary voters, want a war with Iran. So it won't hurt him much.

Could be. Is it? No way to know unless you are inside of it all.

It is extremely hard to remove campaign ad from a candidate. It is not easy to remove ad from non profit but it is easier. It is bit easier to remove campaign ad from a non profit that is "false and misleading advertisement"/defamatory, libel, slander (English terms and I am not that eloquent in English language...which one to use).

It is good to see Rand striking back and not just taking it like people did in 2012 (see my signature).

Does anyone have clarification on the second ad? Especially the part where Rand was saying that Iran isnt a threat even if they have a bomb. It sounds condraticting to Rand's latest narrative.

Look it up and check back in with us.

As a matter of principle, I oppose political violence. But if someone just so happened to beat the living shit out of Reed until he was unrecognizable even to his own mother, I'd have to file it in the "justified" category.

You must not know very many of them.

I do. Just about nobody wants yet another war in the middle east. The crazy few that do were never going to vote for Rand anyway. So this doesn't hurt him.

Anyone know who owns FSPA?

Actually this would be good for an ad to sell Rands brand as " a different kind of republican". He can show that the establishment is scared and running slanderous ads against him. He can also show he is willing to fight them.

I would say the client list is pretty telling
