Palin and others like her contradict themselves.. You can't support having over 700 bases in almost every recognized country in the world while being in a state of Perpetual War in the Middle East and be a "Fiscal Conservative" at the same time.

Things need to change. Either we end this Foreign Adventurism (some of which CAUSES terrorism by way of Blowback) or we risk going into a currency crisis along with what follows after that.

can anyone direct me to some historical literature (i prefer as non-political as possible) regarding being in many countries all the time? i wonder if such exists... i'd probably have to look for a book/source for each region wouldnt i?

There is The Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire but otherwise I don't know. I wouldn't mention that, but I saw you had asked this a while ago and got no response. You could look at the reading list at Campaign for Liberty or ask there, as well. There are a bunch of books that touch on overextension, and there are probably some good ones about the collapse of the Soviet Union, but I'm afraid I don't know them. That would be a fairly recent parallel, however.
