Over the last several years, from what I've seen in N.C. and other states, is that you need to be aware of the different categories of party rules. As in:
Written rules
Unwritten rules
Observed rules
Ignored rules
Forgotten rules
Misunderstood rules
I'm semi-joking about all that. Obviously some counties take the party plan of organization more literally than others. For many decades, North Carolina's process has fallen toward the tail end of the nomination schedule. Hence, the particulars did not really matter so much. "Hey, who wants to go to National this year?"
I don't think the NCGOP is as bad as what we've read about elsewhere. *If you follow the written rules* excactly, you won't get into trouble or have your credentials invalidated.
What I and the other alumni try to do on the forum, is caution people not to expect the same lenient treatement that the old guard has given themselves. There ARE examples of the rules being applied much more carefully to newcomers.
Hey, feel free to dig into the details. Here's the party plan for your reading pleasure.
