Hello all,

I recently read a thread on another forum asking what ron pauls stances or opinions would be on this few issues. I would like to know the communities answers to what rons opinion of the issues would be/are so i can help clear up the issues with the few bashing him on them. thanks ....

Where does he stand on the Citizens United SC decision?

What is his position on nuclear power?

Where does he stand on the EPA and the Endangered Species Act?

Is he opposed to public education?

Is he opposed to public libraries?

Does he think Warren Buffet pays too much in taxes?

Easy answers. If it is not in Article 1 section 8 of the Constitution, he feels the Federal Government is not responsible for it and it should be left to each State to deal with.

It is pretty simple.

BUT, not so quick.

He also points out that the president is NOT supposed to be a dictator and to change many of those things listed takes the consent of the congress. Also, he prioritizes things differently. While he may not approve of the EPA, it is not high on his list. His top priorities are: ending our disasterous foreign policy, saving lives AND money, restoring sound money and restoring civil liberties. After those 3 big issues are dealt with he can work with the congress to start reducing federal overreach. In reality the first 3 could take up most of his first term and also offer the most bang for the buck.

thanks but thats not the kind of detailed answer other want to hear, nor does it fully address the issues people are questioning. I agree with your answer though.

Rob88, have you read any of his books or his thousands of speeches/press releases/columns? Just want to know at well level we should start at here. :)

My responses, but only my BELIEF of his beliefs. For a definitive answer you should go to the campaign.

Where does he stand on the Citizens United SC decision?

My understanding is that he thinks McCain Feingold is unConstitutional restriction on speech. My understanding also is that he does not believe in corporate personhood. I split that up because there were two different parts of the Citizen United case.

What is his position on nuclear power?

I think he thinks it should be part of the package but not subsidized (nor should oil nor another option be) by the federal government.

Where does he stand on the EPA and the Endangered Species Act?

The states can do this singly or jointly such as when they got together to create the Uniform Commercial Code or many other laws where state cooperation was important. However, it isn't a federal role under Article I Section 8 of the Constitution.

Is he opposed to public education?

No, in a practical world, but he wants it subject to local control, not federal government central planning. In a world philosophically perfect it isn't how he would have set it up, but he's not trying to end public education.

Is he opposed to public libraries?

Local government best represents individuals because they can actually impact its policy while living their daily lives. If local governments want to do that, he would leave it to them. Philosophically, if no world existed to undo and redo, he'd have those created by charities or foundations, likely. He's not out to tear apart the current system. As he puts it 'no one wants a r3volution in order to get rid of the public highway system!

Does he think Warren Buffet pays too much in taxes?

Since Warren Buffet apparently thinks he pays too little in taxes I am sure Dr. Paul would think there should be some way Warren Buffet could donate more. Right now Warren Buffet is getting rich off a system of corporatist cronyism that fleeces the poor and middle class, and Ron would rather undo that system so the playing field is more even and others could become 'Warren Buffets'

thanks! these are the type of well worded responses for others I was hoping for.

rob88, fyi, my experience with people who ask those questions is they don't usually care about the answer, they just want to hate. Respond, but don't get your hopes up.

That is why I responded with article 1 section 8. When ever I get those questions, I know that there is a philosophy argument around the corner.
