Quality American made companies you are proud of?????

Just the guns really

Well not much is made in the USA any more.... Food for one is made in the USA same for produce and poultry but that's if you watch what you buy. No electronics, tools, cars are heading there way out (they build US cars in Canada and Mexico -as well as the US), not sure about farming equipment, cloths are not made in the US mainly. I'm sure there are thousands of product categories I've missed but these are the main ones.

I think medicine and defense are the only two sectors we still lead.

Snapper Lawn eqpt.

How about western wear - Justin boots, Stetson hats?

I think the arts count as produced stuff - we make the best music, books, etc.

Other musical instruments - Taylor guitars perhaps?

I think Polk audio and Klipsch speakers are made in USA, maybe JBL also.

There are many artists, woodworkers and individual farmers who are not necessarily companies, but make wonderful products. The best woodwork comes out of the east US. It takes skill and patience to carve decorations into chairs, tables, bedframes, etc; and still make a living.

To all the artists, woodworkers and individual farmers out there, I appreciate you and your style.

Ruger FireArms
Marlin FireArms
Remington FireArms
Ithaca FireArms
H&K FireArms (most of them)

Are you anti Ford or just a retard?

Take your pick. Certainly it is not possible to be both at once.

That said, and given that I don't personally like sending a truck to do a car's job, what decent passenger vehicle do they actually have besides their Mazda designs?

are we getting platform sharing confused with design?? If you don't know the answer to your question you shouldn't have posted in the first place. There isn't a secret lineup of fords out there.

The mechanical design of an automobile is entirely tied up in the platform. This is design.

The styling affects little more than the aerodynamics and the amount of room inside. It has basically nothing to do with the dynamics of the vehicle as experienced behind the wheel. Yes, this is called design as well.

Who said Ford has been making a secret of using Mazda designs? Hell, they've been doing it for a couple of decades now, and they're as proud of it as if it were the only "Better Idea" they've had the whole time.

haha please stop posting your opinions about ford's liquidity and who designs them until you actually learn about them.

I don't know how you can place Ford on this list. Ford cars are absolute crap.

Nice to know I'm not alone. Though I'd buy a Focus in a pinch.

Meredith, you seem to have no idea how many parts are shared between the Mazda Three platform and the Ford Focus. I suggest you go put one of each up on lifts side by side, walk underneath where you can't see the bodies, and pick the Ford. Then come back and be snide (if you make the right pick).

I suppose you're also going to try to convince me that the Mazda pickup isn't a Ford-designed Ranger...

You remind me of the guy who, in the mid eighties, traded his LeMans in on a Bonneville and then went around bragging about how much roomier it was. It was awfully hard to be respectful and not laugh at him--the only differences were the grille and the instrument cluster.

Yeah, hard to keep up. A couple of years ago, I'd have smiled broadly and typed Converse shoes. No more.

Nice to see Zippo mentioned. Cat barely qualifies these days, but John Deere certainly does.

Love my Weber grill.

JD's heavy yellow equipment is still US made. I have a JD 310A backhoe that is still going strong after 25 years.

Their large "green" farm equipment is still US made IRC.

But their small "green" tractors are Chinese - Yanmar/Mahindra.

Red Hook beer

U-dub weed (local legend has it that the highest THC content bud ever was grown - or found - at the University of Washington)

Take cars off the list entirely.
I did a paint job a few years ago on the last car built entirely in the US, it was a Honda.
There is no car today built Entirely in the US.
NONE.

I'm "retro-ing" my fleet.

No new cars, I'm done.
