Pro-Paul group unleashes fiery attack ad

If the ad slammed McConnell instead of Cruz I'd okay with it I guess. Cruz Supporters can't STAND McConnell. But we all know why he wasn't mentioned.

McConnell is against the "Freedom Act", Cruz supports it and has attacked Randal for not supporting it. So why would they attack McConnell over that issue? The ad is factual that Cruz is allied with Obama. The capitulating Canadian indeed; and you guys all want to give him a pass.

I don't know, I thought that Cruz part was pretty funny.

Sure, you did. You do not have Cruz as your #1 pick and Paul as your #2 pick.

If Cruz super pac did an internet-based video and showed Rand in the same caricature manner maybe with an Aqua Buddha, I'd call a low blow and laugh it off, I would forget about it next week. Some people take those things more seriously. By the time Cruz drops out, none of those people will remember this ad, they don't hate Rand for this ad as it is the least of their problems.

You do not have to consciously remember a specific advertisement for it to have left an indelible impression.

I tried to put out a hundred fires in the last 24-36 hours on Facebook from Cruz people crying foul at Rand Paul and spewing FOX propaganda about how he is weak on defence. I'm starting to get the "anybody but Paul" crap again that just wasn't there before this ad, and from people who last week actually TOLD me that Paul was their 2nd choice.

Who wants to give him a pass? I'm suggesting they stop giving him a boost.

If people give Rand a pass for endorsing Mitt Romney, voting for sanctions against Iran, etc., it doesn't seem very different.

The ad points out that the capitulating Canadian is an ally with Obama in wanting to spy on you. And you think that's a positive for Rafael?

Absolutely. And if not for Cruz then for Bush. This isn't a big mystery. Look at my Coke/Pepsi example again and try to work out what I'm saying:

Pepsi wants to make an ad. They know that most Coke drinkers have Pepsi as their #2 choice. They do not call Coke drinkers 'idiots' because that would offend them, and drive them away from your product. They DO call Sprite drinkers idiots, because then Coke drinkers will point and laugh, feel an affinity with your position, and maybe next time Pepsi will be their first choice. If the Pepsi commercial talks about Coke at all, it is usually done in this quasi-scientific "Eight out of ten ordinary blue collar workers just like you prefer Pepsi in a blind taste test."

Attacks can be stupid and that's fine. A stupid attack needs to be against someone that supporters of an opponent with whom you share a base will LIKE. Go after Bush and have him cowering like a little girl behind his father and brother. Cruz supporters will point at that and go YEAHH!!!

You want to go after Cruz, that's fine too, but you need to act like an adult when you go after an opponent with whom you share a base, or you will alienate the very voters you will end up needing to win a primary.

Maybe i'm just a big dummy then because when I find a poisonous snake in the grass next to the kids swingset I don't just pretend like it isn't there and make nice with it and its buddies. I get out my baseball bat and beat it to death, then dump it in the woods.

I gave up wishing that anybody would win after Ron Paul retired, but really, it isn't like Rand doesn't compromise, I don't find him very different from Ted, both are very strong forces for good in Washington, compared to the rest.

You are not a politician who shares an electoral base with a poisonous snake. In this scenario, Lindsay Graham is the poisonous snake, and Ted Cruz is your next door neighbor, you and Cruz are competing for the same girlfriend, and the first one of you to kill the poisonous snake will make her squeal in admiration.

And again, where in the heck are you getting this weird idea that I am advocating not attacking Cruz?

I'm wondering if you are even reading my posts.

I disagree; Cruz is much more dangerous and poisonous. Graham is mainly saying his crap to people that will never support Randal in the primary anyways; Cruz is going around attacking Randal directly at that base you claim they share. Its well past time to take the baseball bat to him.

Smh. I think this is a net positive. Of course, only time will tell. But I for one hope that people see this ad and actually tune in on Sunday to watch someone in Washington actually stand up for their rights. If that happens, it'll all be worth it. The media coverage isn't nearly as bad as you guys are making it seem. I honestly think that you are a little too intelligent to appreciate the simplicity and "lol, I have to Google this" factor of this ad. If we hit 1mil views by June 1, I think it will be interesting to see how interest shifts. The low info voter that doesn't know this forum exists is going to be like "lol wow this guy gives zero fucks".

Paul and Cruz have a defacto non-aggression strategy against each other and all attacks between them will be subtle, because both want the supporters of the other. This is even more so for Cruz, so getting attacked by Cruz will not be a factor in Rand's campaign.

I couldn't give the last damn about media coverage. I have personally seen 100 or so real people Cruz supporters who used to have Paul as their #2 swear off Paul in the last 24-36 hours.

Yes, we NEED to attack Cruz, and HARD. But we need to attack Cruz like adults, not like 3rd graders. Save the 3rd grader crap for Graham and Bush and co with whom we do not share a base. Use adult attacks on people with whom we share a base, so as to win over the base rather than alienating them.

I totally understand where you're coming from. All your hard work seems to be going down the drain, but until Cruz drops out it won't matter very much. And when he does we will have a brand new window of opportunity to win them over. I'm not saying it's perfect political strategy or anything, but you have to admit it is getting people's attention. It's a popularity contest, and this video makes Rand seem popular.

Am I the only one who noticed the link between Graham and kids? Lol they practically called him a pedo.

I don't think attacks on Cruz need to be subtle, they just need to be reasoned and mature. This one little thing will leave the second choicers intact.
