I don't see how this criticism is meaningful or useful. It takes determination and a dogged spirit to make any headway in this game.

Can RJ win?

No. A libertarian Democrat (who is a former Republican) does not produce much crossover appeal. A great example is the United States Senate election in South Carolina, 2008. Graham even outperformed McCain, even though his opponent is a strict Constitutionalist.
