Wow! It looks like we have a lot to keep us busy while we are there! I can't wait to meet some of you :) Oh, and if any ladies are coming from out of town and are still looking for a room to share I have a suite booked within a mile of the convention center and I could really use some help paying for it :)

I will be there, along with my brother and his wife, voting in the Straw Poll.

Although my fiance will be there as well, she wasn't able to become a delegate.
But now she's registered GOP for the primary.

Nevertheless, that's 3 Miami straw poll votes for the Doctor.

rick perry got over-exposed last night. unless he buys a big basketful of votes, he's not going to be even top three.

You Florida guys really aren't helping the campaign time and time again. We got it done in California, you couldn't get it done there. Horrible showing, let Cain win and now he is the talk of the town, trending on twitter, etc. You really dropped the ball here Florida. Shame.

You are probably not aware of how difficult and expensive it was to get a ticket for this straw poll. I spent over $500 to vote in the dumb ass thing.

Cain is a pushed media creation. Thanks for being on our team, though. Means a lot to us. I hope you were drunk when you wrote that because seriously, it makes you look like an ass. It's not exactly like California has been leading the way for liberty, either. Just sayin.

If anyone dropped the ball on Presidency 5, it was the Ron Paul campaign, not "you Florida guys". If Ron Paul had simply shown up for his speech, he would have almost certainly beaten Frothy, and may have finished even higher. (Btw, this was not the first Florida speech that Ron Paul has bailed out of.)

Ron Paul could have won the straw poll for $500k. Would it have been worth it? Given that a major purpose in winning a straw poll is to deny one of the front-runners another trophy, the campaign lucked out that Herman Cain did this to Rick Perry and Mitt Romney for them and they didn't make a significant expenditure on it.

On the other hand, Presidency 5 was possibly the last opportunity to pro-actively shake up the race in Ron Paul's favor. Who knows how much Ron Paul could have benefited from winning this. We'll get something of a clue about that from how far Herman Cain surges in the polls. We do know that Bob Dole spent $1 million winning it 1995 (the equivalent of nearly $2 million today).

The race could still be shaken up in Ron Paul's favor, but it's increasingly looking like it will require some outside force, e.g. a Palin endorsement, a dollar crisis, etc.

Pick yourselves off the floor and move on. Just like the narrow win by Bachmann in Iowa helped us, this may help us too. If nothing else, it should renew our work ethic. Iowa, NH, GOTV, phone calls. If a Ron Paul presidency is meant to be, this set-back will do nothing or will work in our favor. But we still have to do all we can do...take our part in destiny, so to speak. Think how many people in Florida may have been introduced to Dr. Paul by attendees; who'll listen now and start their journeys toward liberty.

This. We had to be registered in June.

herman cain had good poll numbers in june and likewise santorums were higher.
we should have beat santorum at the very least and we cannot fault grassroots
for trying. the florida establishment did not shift in four months. rick perry was
also choaking on herman cain's bus's exhaust + road dust, is rick perry 2nd tier?

Congratulations on California. That was extremely impressive and I am grateful to all who helped make that happen...

I paid my money - jumped through all the hoops to be a delegate and recruited others to be delegates here in Florida. I was there all weekend for the Presidency 5 and CPAC-FL events and I voted for RP on Saturday. I also influenced some undecided delegates.

I'm not sure you realize the dynamics of this Straw Poll and the Florida electorate as a whole. I am ashamed that we finished behind Santorum - but honestly there was little chance for Ron Paul fairing well in this Straw Poll. The Campaign knew that and those of us involved in GOP politics in Florida knew that going in...

HOWEVER, Herman Cain doubling the percentage of votes received by Perry or Romney was a GREAT THING for us! Also, Bachman finishing dead last shows people there is something a little off about this Straw Poll.

Cain and Santorum ACTIVELY courted the Delegates - they showed up at Delegate after parties and spoke on Saturday just before the vote. Cain might not have much depth - but believe me he can move an "undecided audience" with a speech.

Ron Paul left on Friday.

Screw you, jerk. No, it doesn't make me look like an ass. It makes me wonder why the Ron Paul campaign didn't try down there. RP ignored the straw poll, didn't give a speech down there. That is ridiculous of him. Also the grassroots effort was lame. They don't show up in good numbers, unless the good doctor shows up. Lazy.

Also, I'm not drunk or was not drunk when I posted this. However, my dog off 15 1/2 years did die earlier in the day.

Do we need to take a poll or are you still not figuring it out? I don't really see a lot of posts in support of you or your little tirade. Maybe you should stop trying to continue the thread, and move on. The longer you keep it up, the more people there will be quoting your post and explaining your lack of knowledge to you. Now you're just adding your own lack of class to the thread.

I'm sincerely sorry about your dog, but that gives you no reason to come in here like that.
