I got called for a delegate seat today. I will be going and paying for my ticket tomorrow How would I go about getting help for travel and hotel cost to get there in September?

Oh and for those who want to know, I am from Duval County and and found this forum and post from a Facebook link. I was pretty active in the Ron Paul 2008 campaign up here. Dr Paul will be here in Jacksonville on Friday and I am looking forward to seeing him!

You can always start a ChipIn for your trip to Orlando now, promising to return the money if the campaign ends up sponsoring delegates (which they probably won't know if they have the money to do until after the Ames straw poll, which hopefully shakes up the race in a major way in favor of Ron Paul).

Well alright, here goes. I showed up at 5:30 and sat around for an hour and half dicking around on my phone in the back of the room. I was shooting the shit with a guy that was doing the same thing and he said the last two he has been attended that there werent enough people to fill the slots.

Once 7:00 rolled around they announced that there were 164 total delegates. 123 (75%) would be selected by drawing. There were 264 registered republicans that signed up to be there. Only 97 showed up so all of us were then selected delegates.

Here's whats kind of fishy. I after i went up to the table I paid by check to the Republican Party of Florida. (No big deal) What i didnt like is that all the lady did was look at my check and the delegate form i filled out said "Ok" then put it in a pile with a lot of other crap. The ticket i had was not turned in nor did they check it. We did have to write the ticket number on the delegate form but that was all they really have to confirm i am who i say i am when i turned that sheet in. Furthermore, there was really no verification that i paid other than that sheet and the check. If they lose those then im out of luck i guess.

They are either making more work for them to match all the people up or they are going to lose a whole bunch of shit and I, along with others, wont be a delegate anymore. I did take a picture of my ticket though which is on my phone but there is nothing on it to that says that ticket belongs to me.

I didn't think I would have much of a chance anyway, as I was under the impression that the total number of delegates for the county was around half a dozen.

Yesterday, I received a call from the Pinellas County Republican Executive Committee inviting me to become a delegate. So I'm mailing a check today to go.

I've been to the SRLC, CPAC, and now I'm going to this.

I didn't think I would have much of a chance anyway, as I was under the impression that the total number of delegates for the county was around half a dozen.

Yesterday, I received a call from the Pinellas County Republican Executive Committee inviting me to become a delegate. So I'm mailing a check today to go.

I've been to the SRLC, CPAC, and now I'm going to this.

Friend of mine went to Seminole County P5 event last week and said that there were about 50 people. Everyone who showed up was given a ticket to the main event.

There are a lot of us in the running. Having to pay $175 up front for an event in September is difficult for many...

I'm from St. Johns County and I will be ready to pay the fee and help cover other Ron Paul supporters who get picked during our county selection process on Thursday, July 14th.

I dont mean to be a dick or anything but you have a couple things not going for you here. First, you are pretty new to the place. Secondly, you have 3 posts. Finally, those posts have been for money.

Id just like you to take a step back and see what you would do if i were posting in your shoes.

I wish you the best and i hope you can make it but i dont see much funds coming your way. For all i know you could be a Romney supporter wanting to take money from us to support your cause.

I got the same thing a week or two ago. I opened it up to see what it was about and read a few lines then threw cleaned up some dog shit with it and threw it in the trash.

Yes, I got the same letter and slim jim. I haven't gotten a thing from any other candidate (where is the RP campaign).

I have gotten two of you find supporters to chip-in to my trip and I just re-posted my chip-in link to my facebook, but I am still going to be shy of what I need.

I worked on the Ron Paul campaign here in Jacksonville the last go around, but I had my 5th baby since then and have been really busy so I can't be as active as I would like to be this go round. Writing your name on an index card, basically, and pulling it out of a box. You fill it out, you put it in the box.

I guess they could yank it out of the box. I doubt there'll be enough people in my area doing this for it to even matter.

i guess having a caucus vote and running for your delegate position would be wrong. This is how we do it in colorado!! I lost my vote by 2 votes to a romney supporter! Then 1 week before convention? i found out i was going to be the delegate(romney supporter was no where to be found)! so do not give up,become an alternate!! odds are you will be a delegate

Thanks for your vote of confidence in me I totally don't mind people checking me out...I understand that there is a lot of moles in the house and I wouldn't give my hard earned money to just anyone either.

Have you tried to find another delegate in your area to carpool with and share a hotel room?
