PPP Poll - Iowa GOP Presidential Primary

Right it's always a conspiracy to get Ron Paul! How bout if he answers by saying "we have double digit unemployment and people losing everything because of the fed and you want to discuss silly things like heroin?" Thats all he would have to say instead he engages in a pretty useless debate.

Ron answers questions. And that conspiracy crack is nonsense, they didn't ask ANY marginalizing questions of Cain, as one example. And sure, Ron could have handled it differently, but he did A good thing, and I don't think this is what is hurting him. I think it is the spin that he wants to 'end' social security (not fund it and let kids opt out) and the bin Laden spin that supposedly he didn't want the president to get bin Laden, when Ron would have done it ten years ago - Constitutionally. I do agree there are more perfect ways to answer things, but he was one of the stars of the debate, all the media pretty much conceded that even while spinning it, and it is awfully easy to Monday morning quarterback things.

I am sure that the general public did not appreciate RP's statements about drugs and OBL, but the main reason that I support him so adamantly is because he doesn't lie or gloss over any subject. He is not a slick talking politician and never will be. It is ironic that his blatant honesty is what most people mistrust. lol I think that his answers were perfect and that he should hold the line and not ever begin trying to tell the people only what they want to hear. That would make him too much like all the others IMHO.

I agree that Ron's honesty is a big part of what makes him exceptional.

And even those who don't agree with him listen, now, when he speaks.

The corporate media is the problem. Their deception is so blatantly obvious that I can't believe Americans honestly buy the crap the media sells them.

"As for the straw poll effort being hurt, I don't think they will be. The straw poll is mainly a GOTV operation and these polls won't really affect that."

Exactly and if we identify hardcore support and get them to the straw poll and do well there, then polls will reflect it. People love a winner and if RP has that aura, then more will support him.

We got 1,300 votes with basically no main organization four years ago in the straw poll. Who knows what we can do now that we have a campaign team on the ground complete with co-chairs and lots of projects to fund.

The only issues that are going to win this election are endless wars overseas with no end in sight, nation building and foreign aid, jobs and corporate bailouts. The key to winning is saving money by ending foreign wars and cororate bailouts, using that money to keep those on medicare and ssi funded in the short term. Americans do want spending cuts, but not social spending cuts while expanding foreign aid, wars overseas and corporate bailouts. Those are the hot button issues that americans will base their votes on. RP has been hammering these things for four years and his poll number had been raising then suddenly he starts running as a hard core libertarian and is blowing what he has gained in the last four years. Heroin legalization, be kind to OBL and Pakistan and open borders are just about the surest way to lose a election.I have totally stepped back from RP's campaign and my wallet has snapped shut until RP get's his head on straight and runs to win. Right now he isn't running to win but continuing to run his education campaign where his votes and actions do not get anything done but make statements. He has to learn to be a broad leader now, and pick his battles to accomplish the most good. Tailoring his message to appeal to the most radical elements of the libertarian wing will ensure he remains only the leader to that .5 % of the electorate.

Well, the drop in his favorables means something is sticking, and the campaign needs to address that. The 'placing' with all so close and certain others having their 'moment' doesn't bother me as much this far out.
