PPP Poll - Florida General Election / Ron Paul Crushes Obama with Independents

Given that Dr Paul is only 1% away from Obama overall and he wins Independents by 15% I take that to mean that a large portion of registered Republicans would vote for Obama over Paul in a head-to-head general election? If I'm reading that correct, that's deplorable.

-----------
General Election Matchups:
Obama 45%
Paul 44%

Independents:
Paul 52%
Obama 37%
------------

Not necessarily. Remember, there are more democrats than republicans

That's not the way I read it. The way I read it then It's the democrats voting for Obama, which you would expect.

Democrat:
  • Obama 84%
  • Paul 12%

Republican:
  • Paul 74%
  • Obama 8%

The 8% of Republicans voting for Obama was about the same for the other candidates: Romney 7%, Perry 9%, Bachmann 8% and Gingrich 10%.

The results are the way they are because a large number of Republicans are undecided if it came down to Paul/Obama. 18% are undecided while only about 10% were undecided if it was another Republican candidate.

This poll is questionable because usually, Democrats win the independents, and if Republicans win its just because there's more conservatives out there than liberals. If Ron Paul is winning the independents by that much, he should be way ahead overall.

But of those undecided folks, their numbers are 4:1 Republican. So maybe its not that R's would vote for Obama over Paul, but they also haven't decided if they would vote for Paul over Obama. Would the establishment run a 3rd party candidate if Paul gets the nomination?

For real. Wtf? It's like they all hear he is personally against abortion and then they freak out and conclude he's anti-femalian or something. Don't they know he considers a federal ban on abortion INVALID and UNCONSTITUTIONAL.

No, they probably don't. As a FEMALE, I'm single, without kids, so I have more time to follow politics. My friends who have families DO NOT. Many women are just way too BUSY to get all the facts. Between taking care of the kids, husband, AND working FT as many do, pray tell when do they have TIME to really research the facts on candidates and issues?? They are totally stressed out and barely have time for themselves. I think they only have time to hear tv sound bytes and then form their opinions from there. I don't know what the answer is. Maybe the Ron Paul supporters who are boyfriends and husbands can help in the education process!

"Woman:
•Obama 51%
•Paul 39%"

....I'm ashamed to be a woman right now....

What would be most effective in getting women to not vote for Obama?
The fact that he's a:
  • Liar
  • Warmonger
  • Thief
  • etc.
Or would it be better to try and put Ron in a friendlier/softer light:
  • Picture of baby kissing Ron
  • Ron's going to empower you (or your man) to increase your security
  • Ron has the safest root planned through the troubled water ahead (type rhetoric)
  • etc.

It would seem they are asking Ron questions that are targeted to give a certain emotional response in women... like that question about a 30+ year old uninsured coma patients.

Ugh. Gotta work on the younger pop but they are normally liberal anyway. Don't expect support in South Florida/Keys...VERY liberal...unless a Cuban is Ron's running mate or we can get Rubio to campaign for us.

This poll does not matter in FL. Ron will not win the FL primary unless all the indies change to Repub. FL is a closed state.

Well, I was never on the Obama train, so I give some pretty good reasons why Obama should not be considered for another election cycle. But the main one is that he did start a third war, and that means more sons and husbands going into foreign territory with the prospect of death at every corner. I always tell other women that he IS a physician and delivered 4,000 babies as an OBGYN and that the reason he is pro-life is because he's thinking about the liberties of the baby. He also has first hand experience on what an abortion looks like if done wrong (watching an aborted baby die in a bucket would probably turn even the most pro-choice person pro-life).

And we should totally show them a picture of him 30 years ago. Because he was fiiinne.

Oh, and daughters going to war too. And wives, if they're lesbians...
