I don't watch any MSM but question for those who do... how much have they been talking about Santorum?

The Bachmann, Perry, Cain and Gingrich surges were fueled by media coverage. In other words, the media declared a surge for the candidate and the poll numbers followed thereafter (not vice versa.) So my question is... is the MSM manufacturing the Santorum surge? Santorum has not done anything in particular to all of a sudden enter the hearts and minds of Iowans out of no where.

Personal opinion: Santorum has been polling at around 6% for much of the year in Iowa. That would translate to, if we have a similar turnout to 2008, about a base of 7,000 voters. With his recent rise in the polls, he could now expect somewhere around 16k votes.

I would be shocked if Santorum can find, out of nowhere, the 27,000 or so votes that it will take a minimum to win Iowa.

It looks highly likely that he will come in third however as Bachmann voters and probably Rick Perry voters and even some Gingrich voters are jumping ship over to the last remaining place they can go - Santorum.

It would be funny if it weren't so sad. But I can't imagine he will win Iowa.

the poll is good to wake us up. also, a santorum win would damage iowa's image a lot more than a Paul win.

I watch the cable news channels all day every day while I work as this election unfolds (and I haven't blown my brains out yet) and let me tell you - the push for Santorum these past few days has been HUGE.

Santorum surge is what they are ALL talking about. People will go with ANYBODY the MSM tells them to go with, and MSM has told people to go with all of the candidates at one time or another with one exception of course.

And moreso than Paul could ever do, a Santorum win in Iowa does show irrelevance of that vote. Absolutely 0 chance Santorum can be President, none.
