PPP 2016 GOP Poll - New Hampshire (Jan 14) / Rand in 2nd at 12%

Wasn't New Hampshire a semi-open primary? meaning Independents could vote? or did people have to register Republican to be able to vote?

Christie being more "liberal" in certain areas will help him in NH anyway. I wouldn't take a poll this early, and from NH with Christie having the media momentum to mean anything at all really.

It really hurts my soul seeing Christie in a sizable lead in all these state polls.

I can somewhat understand republicans going for Romney in 2012.. the whole "He's the only one who's electable because he's so moderate!" but then when he fails miserably (2 million less republicans came out to vote for him than John fucking McCain in 2008) can people seriously not see that electing progressive republicans doesn't work?

Bush won in 2000 because he actually ran as a conservative (at least moreso than what we're seeing now) and really only won in 2004 because it's harder to oust a sitting President..
then we got McCain. Moderate as hell... lost.
then we got Romney. Moderate as hell... lost. DESPITE Obama facilitating the slowest "recovery" after a recession in modern history

So who is everyone pushing? Chris Christie? What. The. Fuck.

I understand these are early polls and it's more or less "who has the greatest name recognition right now?" instead of "who will you vote for?" but man...

I still think people are craving for someone new.. and not just a louder, fatter version of Romney and McCain. I'm pretty confident that people like Rand Paul and Cruz (I know this forum hates him) will end up leading the way in 2016. conservatives are begging for someone who's different and not someone who will sacrifice principle just to act just like a socialist democrat and claim it's "crossing the aisle".

Finishing his term and saying he wants to be in NJ the rest of his life? If you take him at his word then he aint running

Why the hell should anyone take him at his word?

"I am very reluctant to do so, but after a lot of soul-searching and consulting with family, friends and constituents, I have been persuaded to set aside my own selfish interests for the good of the country and run for President ..."

In the real election I expect to see Huntsman run another strong campaign in NH and split some of Christie's vote, letting Rand win.

This.

The best/right way to look at most polls is to break it down into a single "establishment" (re: Christie+Bush+others) vote vs conservative/tea-party (re: Rand+Cruz+others

(the difficult part is figuring out how to divide up the support of some of the lower polling candidates i.e. does Rubio's entire 8% = establishment or do 50% of Rubio supporters = conservative/tea-party?)

100% of rubio suporters=dolts

More concerning is the head-to-head numbers between Hillary and Rand. But by all means, continue pandering to the 'gay marriage has had a negative impact on my life' subspecies of Boobus.
