Post Debate Strange Handshake: Ron Paul / Rick Santorum

Santorum only did it to Ron Paul. When I saw it, my first thought was "Wow Dr. Paul, you stomped me good tonight".

Of course not, Dr. Pauls hands are used to bring forth life not end it. They should be worried that he might be pointing out the better path forward for Santo however.

That was my take on it last night. Watching the video again there may have been a bit more to it - at least a little bit of frustration being taken out, a little bit of alpha male competition - but I still think it was mostly a "You old son of a gun, you really handed me my ass tonight!"

Don't know if anyone has posted this video of the handshake, but it gives a better perspective than the original 5 second one.

yeah... it was a "you totally kicked my ass you son-of-gun!" handshake. Notice how Rick pats Ron on the back with a big friendly smile immediately after the shake.

Did you see Ron's chair rock back and forth from the hand shake? That's not how you treat a 76 year old statesman. It was incredibly disrespectful and was obviously his attempt at releasing his frustration. When was the last time any of us had our hands shook like that? Santorum's a sore loser and this just makes it more obviously so.

After last night’s GOP debate, per usual, the candidates shook hands as they cleared the stage. But one handshake in particular between Rick Santorum and Ron Paul could be classified as assault. Or a misdemeanor, at least.

Watch as Paul extends his arm halfway, palm out. Santorum seizes it in a “put ‘er there, partner!” kind of way then aggressively pumps in and out, making it look like a yanky dance:

I think it's great. As other said it shows Ron got to him. I feel the same way as the "Perry puts his finger in Ron's face" incident. It wasn't long after that until Perry's campaign went into a hopeless tailspin. Let's hope the same think happens to Santorum. Rick was being a prick with the handshake, but he did end it with a "friendly" pat on the back. He's later statements/conspiracy theory about Dr. Paul and Mitt Romney confirms that he was none to happy about how Ron worked him over that night.
